I haven't seen those episodes of futurama so you're probably right about the fact that they are more emotional than the Simpsons,but the Simpsons are superb (the old episodes).
I think so, haven't they split series 5 (or whatever they're on now in the UK) into two parts? The first half has definitely been shown which I saw and they still haven't shown the second half have they?
I don't like the emotional stuff. I watch Futurama for the nerdy science comedy, and the episode with Fry's dog kind of annoys me. Just stick to what you do best, guys. Futurama is very good, and the most recent couple of seasons in particular have been really clever, but it'll never be as smart as The Simpsons in its day. There are so many cultural references and parodies that I didn't notice when watching as a kid, so it's awesome going back over the old episodes and finding a load of jokes I didn't get before.
Same with me.I found that when I watched the third season a few weeks ago,there are so many different types of jokes for all ages really.
Like others on here I watch a lot of US tv, helped by Sky Atlantic! Blue Bloods Friday Night Lights Big Bang Theory How I Met Your Mother 2 Broke Girls Mad Men West Wing (favourite tv programme ever) Deadliest Catch! Waking The Dead Newsroom, from the writer of West Wing! I also agree that I don't know why Terra Nova didn't make a 2nd series. I wait to be shot down!
It's a format that works well in the US and I guess living there when I was younger means that after a long day at work I quite enjoy some tv that doesn't take too much thinking about
Anyone that watches: The Only Way Is Essex Geordie Shore Scouswives ...or anything along those lines should be put down. These are not real people at all and live a lie and acting up for attention....! It's just so cringy and tragic!
Can I just say that I'm not one of those so-called others. I tend NOT to watch US driven TV. MacDonalds OUT. That's my latest idea. I'm thinking of making it my signature. Gort would love it.
Neil Patrick Harris is a bit of a dude. Still, it's the same with all these American sitcoms - you can see a joke coming a mile off. The humour is just far too obvious. I guess there's only so much time you can put into writing decent jokes if you're ****ting out 25 episodes a year.
Good to see that you're seeing through the formulaic, but much admired US sitcoms, Joe. Standard US humour is... feed line/punch line/laugh/recovery line/serious line/feed line/punch line/laugh/recovery line/serious line/etc... and so on. It is so predictable. At its best you get Seinfeld, because they pushed and pulled those standard lines around. LeGod knows what you get when it's bad, because hopefully, I haven't seen it.
