The rough areas of Rochdale can be just as bad I'm afraid, plus at least in the Quays and Media City, Salford has at least something going for it wheras Rochdale is one big pit of depression apart from the small area near the bus station. I think they are hoping the trams can lead to extra investment but I'm not too convinced.
It is/was a ****-hole though - when I was there (late 80s) it had one shop not burnt out/wrecked in the 'shopping centre', and that was like 'Fort Apache, The Bronx'. Oh...and the kids had bricked and burnt out the Travelling Shop.......
I wasn't doubting that it was a ****hole, just saying the descriptions given on Chavtowns amuse me, in all honesty any place that is described as in Merseyside would send alarm bells ringing in my head.
We were voted 'worst place to live' in 2005. But unfortunately we lost our title to Boro the following year. Then they stopped doing it, I suspect my death threats to Phil and Kirsty may have helped.
In the first 'Crap Towns' book....but the author did stand in (human?) ****, in one of the 'phone boxes in front of Paragon Station!
Channel 4 said that aswell as a book were the author admitted he purposely walked around the rough areas. Channel 4 now let people rate their own area on their website were we are not in the top 20.
Ye tis bad. You shoulda gone a bit further down to Shotton and Connahs Quay. Overflow of scouse scum. Got offered smack 3 times on a ten minute walk through the town centre
How Hull finished below Grimsby in the "crap town list" is beyond me... the place is an absolute dump. Also so is Scunthorpe; and this isn't just a grude otherwise Milton Keynes would be there too.
Is this another thread to see how far we can get from the topic? Meanwhile, back on topic...Skysports website have a report about Bruce's continued interest in Fotheringham. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7956108/Tigers-trial-for-Fotheringham
You've done it now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/twitter/9444170/Kirstie-Allsopp-reports-Twitter-trolls.html
I disagree on Milton Keynes, despite it's strange set up (road wise) it's not a bad place. The lakes and parkland in really close proximity to the city, for me make it ok. Plus it has an x scape snow dome in the centre.
Stoke's a **** place, but going there for football makes it seem even worse. Their ground, their fans and everything about the experience of going there is just deeply unpleasant. Also Grimsby/Cleethorpes is pretty shoddy.
