    I realise that :)
I'd go for the 4-2-3-1 - the defensive stability will be very necessary and will liberate what would be wingers to allow them to concentrate on attacking.

To facilitate Podolski in a 4-2-3-1 you're putting him or vP in as an attacking midfielder, and I'm not sure how that would work. I suppose you could have
Theo Pod Cazorla with RvP up front. Pod & Cazorla could switch, as could Pod & vP, Theo & vP, Theo & Cazorla...it becomes pretty tasty!!

Yup and Podoslki has played that role many times for Cologne also.

Then if we added Nuri Sahin to the squad we would really have a top quality unit. (which is something we need with our injury record)<ok>

We need strong squad fighting for places not just a decent 11.

You saw my prediction! I can't even answer this thread. If Sahin and Cazorla join, then we will be able to select based on form, which is something we haven't been able to do since - forever.

Yup and if we get those signings I'll agree with you.

Good point would be soo interesting to have some real depth in the squad.

    ----------------Szczesny----------------
    --Sagna--Koscielny--Vermaelen--Gibbs*--
    ------------Arteta---Song---------------
    ----Walcott----Cazorla------Podolski-----
    ----------------Giroud-------------------

Hopefully the Cazorla-deal gets announced soon. Someone like M'Vila would then be the icing on the cake and give us more strength in depth.
The front line is variable, we could also draft in Gervinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain (depending on the form of the attacking players).

I do hope that Chamberlain steps up to become a first-team regular, unlike Walcott and Podolski, he has the element of surprise in his game and can take on players. I expect more from Gervinho, too.

    * I'm not really convinced by Gibbs, too incosistent and very injury-prone. Santos isn't a great defender as well, but he is very good going forward. I would pick the left back depending on opponent.
