Should we sign Santi Cazorla, we will be acquiring a world class player. This is a man that would walk into every team in world football, apart from Barcelona and, debatably, Real Madrid.

Should we sign him for any thing less than £35 million. It will be an absolute steal and the possibly the bargain of the season.

He is in the same category as David Silva and Juan Mata.

He is a versatile player with very good work rate, and typically, everything you would expect from a stereotypical Spanish player.

I would not be surprised one bit if he becomes PFA player of the year next season.

    Yeah he's a quality player.

I somehow doubt Arsenal will be willing to go above £15-16 million though.

He's a good player, that is all.

He's good but he's not world class, at the moment.

    Good signing if it happens.

Sorry, but define "world class"? The guy has won 2 European Championships and a World Cup with Spain, plus he helped a mediocre team in Villareal reach the Champions league semi-final and also helped Malaga last year clinch a champions league spot for the first time in the teams history.. Do your math!

I'd put him in the same bracket as Arteta. Not World Class but extremely good.

He won 2 European Championships and a World Cup with Spain as nothing more than a bench player, I don't think he even managed 20 minutes on the pitch in total during the whole of the Euro finals. Cazorla is certainly a very good winger and would probably prove to be a great buy, but too many good players are labelled as world class these days.

Apologies for him David. Clearly HIZ MOther didn't raise him very well.

I've watched Malaga play a good few times last season.

He is world class. Also, his best position is through the middle, not on the wing.

    Just wait and see, morons.

He wouldn't be at Malaga if he's World Class. He's quality and he's a top player, but he is NOT World Class.

Obviously "World-class" changes depending on how large that selection is. If World class covers 11 players who would be in the world XI, or if it is anyone capable of playing international football.

So to put it in perspective, Cazorla is as good as, if not better than Kagawa or Mata or Silva, that our rivals keep telling us are world class. He has a comparable record, is as versitile, is completely 2-footed, experienced and is a complete player.

He made his name at Villarreal playing on the wing, he's played on the wing in pretty much all of his appearances for Spain, and can you guess what his regular position is for Malaga? Yes, you guessed it... on the wing.

Not true, when he was bought by Malaga they were the Manchester City of Spain. He was seen as their David Silva. It hasn't worked out mainly because Spain don't like rich foreigners owning their football clubs and make it hard of them, but he is considered a top player in La Liga.

I'm guessing the same thing applied to David Silva, David Villa and Juan Mata while they were at Valencia...

Where he made his name and what his best position is, is irrelevant. Crisitano Ronaldo made his name as a right winger, his best position is as a left forward. Messi made his name as a right winger, his best positions is now as a CF. Who cares if it was his regular position, you clearly don't watch him play, as his best position is through the middle. Other players need to be accommodated as well.

I've watched him play quite a lot, and the young lad Isco plays through the middle for Malaga, Cazorla usually plays on the wing, one of his strong points is his ability to put in very good crosses from either wing with both feet, he cuts inside around the box quite a lot, especially when he's playing on the left, but he very rarely plays through the middle.

I know about Isco, that's the point I'm trying to make, he has to be accommodated as well, he is far to talented to be left out of the team, and his position is through the middle, so that's why Cazorla is played out wide.

Make no doubt about it though, that Cazorla's best position is also through the middle as well, though.

Rarely? He played in all 38 league games last season for Malaga, and in 12 of those games, he played through the middle. That's just under a third. 17 on the right, and 9 on the left. And it's also no surprise that his strongest performances came from attacking midfield, as well.
