Wolves have turned down Sunderland's offer of £10m for Fletcher - they really are playing 'hard ball' on tranfer fees http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/wolverhampton-wanderers/9439242/Wolves-stand-firm-over-transfer-bids-for-Steven-Fletcher-and-Michael-Kightly.html Elsewhere,Everton have finally re-signed Steven Pienaar in a £4.5million deal from Spurs on a four-year contract.
**** me, Levy must be laughing all the way to the bank. They paid £2m for him, sat him on the bench/reserves for a year, let him go to Everton on loan last January, then sold him for £4.5m. What a joke! Classic Spurs.
Levy is a very cunning individual. Anyway, I might have already said this, but we're basically just home from our US tour, so any deals that were in progress on a club level (our managing director Ian Ayre stayed behind to work on transfers) should now be finalised with Rodgers and the players concerned. That's if you look at logically anyway.
How many years were left on his contract? If, as I expect, its 2+ years then the deal is understandable. If it's not, Levy's got some incriminating photos tucked away.
Moussa Dembele As the saying goes, "it's never over until the fat lady stops singing" or in our case 31st August. So the interest and rumours continue this time about the other half of the Double Ds, with Madrid reportedly interested - http://www.insidefutbol.com/2012/08/01/yes-real-madrid-want-him-spanish-giants-join-manchester-united-in-moussa-dembele-hunt/66310/ Personally I think this is spin, possibly tied in with the Modric negotiatiations. Whatever, we should take a leaf out of Levy's book with any valuation - the oft quoted 1 year left on his contract shouldn't be a factor.
I'm sure when Dembele joined us he said he was using Fulham as a stepping stone to a top club and would see his contract out then leave on a free. He is Belgium after all
Jordan Rhodes Our interest has re-surfaced simply as a result of Blackburn looking around having lost Leon Best through injury in a pre-season friendly - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11740/7954441/Town-shun-Rhodes-bid The article is inaccurate however - our offer wasn't just £2m, it was that as a down payment plus a further £4m spread over 3 years dependent on performance. Huddersfield rejected the installment payment idea. Nonetheless we are still interested.
http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...le-deal-for-jordan-rhodes-and-andrey-arshavin Not sure how I'd feel about us bringing both in- would assume it signaled Dempsey's departure. Arshavin looks un-interested in parts last season, and his motivation to stay in the UK is for family, not footballing, reasons; he would be free, though.
Jol actually said he was chasing 2 players - a midfielder to replace Murphy and a striker. It's prety clear that Rhodes is high on his list but I can't for the life of me why Arshavin would be, mainly for the reasons you give silkship (and wages).
Apparently Huddersfield have accepted a £6m offer from Blackburn and Rhodes is in talks with them - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2182306/Blackburn-close-Jordan-Rhodes.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
Quite surprised the Rhodes, rumor and Blackburn,I think this lad has potential, and surely we could match and plus this offer. What amazes me is the amount we seem to be offered for the Double Ds,a derisory sum to say the least. DEMPS 8/10m DEM 12/15, should be our mim` selling price. they both appear to want to go. Push the boat out RHODES & FLETCHER,any other suggested combinations.
Certainly not rosc - that would be giving away my Fantasy Team selection way too early. But if pushed I'd go Rhodes and Sagbo.
This article concentrates on Blackburn 'closing' in on Etuhu and Rhodes which we know about. However as a footnote it reports, if we lose out on those two we will look to Sagbo (and as you'll guess from the previous post I rate the Evian player) and a new name Carlos Sanchez http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2182869/Blackburn-Fulhams-Dickson-Etuhu-hot-shot-Jordan-Rhodes.html?ITO=socialnet-twitter-fulhammail&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed Sanchez (he's another free agent) is an interesting one since I thought he was more or less fixed at Bolton http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/9850717.Sanchez_and_Afobe_set_to_join_Wanderers_by_weekend/ It could be the usual journalism - he's a midfielder and losing Etuhu means we're running low in that position - but why him?
Jordan Rhodes again, also claims we've bid on Jarvis; http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...t-Jarvis-and-Huddersfields-Jordan-Rhodes.html
The Jarvis deal has been close to completion for over a week I believe, silkship. But more likely £6m. Previous post:
Arouna Kone Well it wouldn't be Friday without dodgy rumours flying about - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfers-fulham-lead-arouna-kone-1206550 Apart from his knees being as dodgy as the rumour, £7m is way over the odds.
