i like the American commentators they seem to enjoy good football and have alot of respect for our club...beats the obvious bias drivel we get here. As for the game...we seem to be playing like you do with a couple of your mates down the park...attackers running into each others space frequently.....feels like we are a bit shy to come out of our shell...i think im just used to seeing a match with some bite in it......we do seem very spanish in our set up...but i dont think we are good enough....NEW STRIKER asap i think is essential..we need an Ade to compliment our flair midfield. p.s i love the drilled pass Dawson constantly plays from the back.
1-1 good corner from Sigurdsson but some awful defending giving Bale a free header. Naughton for Walker.
1-1. Good Bale header from a Sigurdsson (I think) corner. Lax marking from Red Bull, which allowed him to pick his spot. Naughton on for Walker, Carroll on for Livermore.
Carroll on for Livermore. Just heard the commentators saying that it was St. James' Park versus Newcastle on the opening day
2-1. Sigurdsson twists and turns, then picks out the far corner with a superb finish. We look a lot better since the changes, with Kane making some intelligent and unselfish runs. Carroll's had some nice touches, too.
Red Bulls look all over the place, now. Haven't dealt with our changes or their own. Confidence looks shaken. Dawson hits the woodwork from another corner. They're hanging on.
Dawson hitting the bar from a corner now. It's all happening! A combination of Red Bulls' subs being a bit **** and us having a proper formation this half.
So Dawson hits the bar following another Siggurson corner. We've threatened more from corners in this match than in the whole of last season.
Sigurdsson's delivery has generally been good, once he dealt with the stupid advertising things on the side. Bentley put in a couple of decent ones, too. I wonder if Carroll and Huddlestone could be an option for us in the Europa? The youngster offers better movement, he's quicker and he's more comfortable further up the pitch. Townsend on for Bale.
Kaboul, Smith and Bassong on for Sigurdsson, Lennon and Assou-Ekotto. Not sure how we're set up now, to be honest.
Given our striker problem I'm surprised we didn't fly Sir Les out there. Is it me or did Lennon look quite slow by his standards tonight? He only got going a couple of times but the Red Bulls defenders seemed to be able to match him.
