"Anyway, I could go on, but I very much doubt any of that will happen...in fact, I am positive that none of it will happen!"

What do think the chances are that he'll be found guilty of calling Cole a coconut seven times? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Most United fans posting in this thread seem to have said Rio deserves the ban that he almost certainly has coming, he was stupid for re-tweeting that comment and I personally have no problem with him serving a suspension for it, I certainly won't be printing any T-shirts over it <whistle>

If the FA arrive at their verdict the same way they did with Suarez then I fear for Rio!

I also feel sorry for him that IF he is found guilty he will forever be vilified as a racist and be booed every time he sets foot on the pitch at every ground in the PL, except Anfield!

He will not be booed at Anfield because the Liverpool fans realise how ridiculous the FA and their disciplinary panels are, and as such, do not take any notice of their decisions and thus Rio will be spared the boos...however, that cannot be said of every other ground in the PL, including OT, where the fans seem quite happy to just accept the FA's nonsensical decisions and in turn spend the entire game booing an opposing player because 3 men in a motel on the M6 decided he was PROBABLY guilty!

It also seems strange to me that United have had an ex-manager who was sacked by ITV for racially abusing a player, they have a current manager who was found guilty by UEFA of using racist terminology, and now an ex-captain and senior player charged with using racially abusive terminology, along with a higher amount of racially aggravated arrests inside their ground than LFC...yet it is Liverpool who their fans sing about as being racists...how bizarre! <doh>

Hmmm. Even I (and you've doubtless seen my numerous posts on the subject) don't think he deserves a ban, based upon the precedents of babel and Carlton Cole. Should be interesting to see the Frimpong thing too.

What is totally fabulous though, as has been mentioned, is watching the same rent-an-anti-racist-quote mob such as Samuels,Lawton, Carlisle, Taylor, Holt et al either tie themselves up in knots in convoluted arguments defending him, or simply saying nothing and sticking their fingers in their ears.

    Loving it. <somersault>

Yes, you're right, 4 United fans think he should be charged!

Seriously though, I am not sure this is the consensus amongst United fans...but I suppose it is difficult to gauge. I have read lots of United fans disagreeing with this and completely forgetting that they were in full support of the FA's 'justice system' 7 months ago! <ok>

Maybe you spend too much time reading about United.

"along with a higher amount of racially aggravated arrests inside their ground than LFC..."

Reminds me, tucked away in a miniscule corner of the Observer on Sunday was a brief correction re the racism claim in the Oldham game. As was fleetingly reported in some national papers back in March (blink and you missed it), the case was dropped four months ago as, in the words of the CPS, what little evidence there was supported the accused man's claim that he had indeed used the phrase "Manc bast@rd", and not what the player thought he said. Yet only last week, the Observer (from the same stable as the Guardian, 'natch), were still regurgitating the story that an oldham player had been racially abused at Anfield in January.

You won't be surprised to learn that the correction was nowhere near the size or profile as the original slur the week before, let alone the hysteria by all papers back in January when the incident occurred.

    Maybe!

I don't see how it is relevant though, I also don't see your point with regards to my comments...unless of course you don't have one! <ok>

Yeah, I heard that they had apologised somewhere else, ****houses!

I liked the way Ollie Holt reacted to the story that the CPS had dropped the case, with silence! I was surprised because he was reporting/tweeting that it was indeed a racial term that was used against the Oldham lad within 20 minutes of the actual incident taking place...thus making it seem viable that because he had witnessed it then there was some truth in the story! Then it emerged that he was tweeting from his hotel room......... in ****ing Dubai! <ok>

You decided to have a rant about the hypocrisy of United fans because of comments you apparently read somewhere where they are defending Rio, but you posted this rant in a place where no United fan's seem to be defending Rio, so I guess my point is that maybe you should go and post your rant wherever you have read all of these comments, surely that would make more sense?

That wasn't actually your point though was it? And if it was, your comment therefore made no sense and it also clearly didn't mention the salient point that you 'guess' you were making!

Anyway, we both know you didn't mean what you are now suggesting, I'm okay with that...no problem at all! Don't worry about it and please don't feel the need to defend yourself and start backtracking and inserting 'unsaid' meanings into previous posts...it's not a good look!

    Good night! <ok>

Remember reading about Matthew hopkins during the 17th century witchtrials when he accepted the story that a woman had been talking to cats, and therefore the devil, even though no-one had seen this happen. Apparently the silence of the cats to everyone else in court proved that they only spoke to the accused in private...

Obviously the FA thought Goulding was the next best thing with Hopkins being unavailable.

I don't believe either Terry or Ferdinand are really racists.

However they are both complete idiots who seem to think they are above the rules, with no sense of consequences. Ferdinand missing a drugs test, Terry sleeping with teammates girlfriends, Ferdinand's sense of entitlement over being in the Euros squad, Terry's sense of entitlement over lifting the European cup...

I hope they both get lengthy bans. This would serve as an example to themselves and younger players that stupidity is no defence against unacceptable behaviour. They get paid more in a year than I'll likely get in a lifetime, to kick a ball around a rectangle of grass; it's time they were forced to grow up a bit.

    Hello shwan.
I can't respond to you in the other thread because it's been closed:confused:, so I'll answer you in this very similar in content thread<whistle>....
I was being sarcastic you cretin, I never wanted Rio to be charged and didn't really expect it. If you had any clue at all you'd have realised I thought Rio should have just publicly admitted he was foolish to endorse the tweet, even more so for trying to justify it.
I know you'll respond with some totally irrelevant bullshit and again fail to comprehend how ****ing stupid you make yourself appear, so go ahead, prove my prediction right, again!

And yet this thread remains open?
Can the mod who closed the other Rio/choc ice thread please explain the reason for the inconsistency?

This thread is still open cos some intelligent posters are still commenting on it. It hasn't generated into a pissing contest between you and shwan, which you for some reason felt the need to necro two weeks later.

So be forewarned - if you and shwan can't keep your tape measures under control in this thread then it will also be closed <ok>
