Condolences to Stephen Ireland

Don't think he'd be able to keep his mind on the game if he played. Better if he sits this one out.

 

Much more traumatic, yes its not nice what has happened to Ireland's wife but these circumstances are much worse, as both Lovenkrands and Babayoro lost close family members

 

Is she back in critical condition or back in under precaution?

 

Didn't realise that she'd gone back in but still at least she's still alive.

 

The article said she came out of hospital but her condition deteriorated and she had to be taken back to hospital.

 

Ahh ok. Hopefully not too bad then.

 

Hope she gets well soon. And it's harder this way, because he'd be spending the entire time worrying the she would deteriorate further or how things were and if she was alright, whereas the others were mourning.

 

That's a moronic thing to say really. You cannot even begin to tar everyone with the same brush. People have different relationships with different family members, and the situations are far more complex than we know. We don't know what her accurate medical situation is and we don't know what Ireland knows. We can't even begin to guess.

So you cannot just say that one situations is more stressful than the other. Some people have very close relationships with their parents, and a loss like that can be more devastating than anything else.

 

From what i read it looks like she's on the road to recovery.

 

I'll stand up for tash here You expect your parents to go first because it's natural when someone your age/ younger and someone you've chose to be with for the rest of your life goes I'll stick my neck on the line and say it probably would be more stressful!
I also think the fact there's no definitive answer makes it less likely that he'll play

 

I think Lover's situation was probably a lot more traumatic to be honest, we havent even given Ireland compassionate leave of absence whereas Lover got it. Also his dad wasnt that old and you cant just write off the death of such a close family member because they were older.

Hopefully it will fire Ireland up for the game and inspire him if he is in an ok state to play. And of course, let's hope his wife makes a full recovery.

You're not talking into account the fact that Lovenkrands is from Europe/Scandinavia where family is a big big part of their lives (they don't just generally stick their elders in a home but will have them live with them in old age), so his father will have been very close to him and the fact that his father died at still quite a young age whilst he was a few hundred miles away would have affected him deeply - Mrs Ireland hasn't died & is expected to make a recovery, so the two events can't be compared!

 

If he doesn't feel up to playing the next game I think it's completely understandable but if he does, regardless of his performance, he deserves our full support and applause.

 

Hope she makes a speedy recovery

 

On another note, you'd think Ireland was cursed. He arrives injured, recovers then picks up another injury before his debut, by the time he is fit we are playing Villa so he is ineligible, and now he is fit and eligible to play he may be given compassionate leave and might even have to wait until Blackpool to play!
