hopefully after tonight, i will finally have learnt my lesson about attending friendlies, boring waste of time, tho i say this every year!
I come on here after every game, and you're always moaning about wishing you hadn't gone. You're mental.
true, its a bad habit like smoking and heroin, at least they have support groups to help them give up..
Is it just you in a clinic with alcoholics and smackheads wearing a City shirt shouting at yourself for spending money on crap friendlies?
Probably get slated for this but tonight Bruce looked solid at the back, problems started when Bradley replaced him and was paired with Cooper (Who says experience doesn't count for a lot)
Did Bruce drown out the Keepmoat and the unsuspecting citizens of Doncaster with copious torrents of vomit? By that I mean, was he sick? He better not have been. It really does have to stop. NOW.
I stopped going to pre- season friendlies years ago - all they are for is to get players fit. Year after year it never ceases to amaze me at how fans get either over excited or overly downbeat as the result of meaningless games. They seem to forget that these games have no bearing whatsoever on how a team does once the competitive matches begin.
Agree with that. Hopefully one of the CB's will only be a short-term loan so we can recall them if necessary.
I think Ferriby and Winterton are always worth going to, but the games against League clubs are pointless to watch. The worst I've seen was away at Sheff. Wednesday in 2009. We hadn't signed anyone yet that summer and I remember Cousin, Folan, Mendy, Boateng and Marney all played and they were all going through really bad spells, we were **** and it was 0-0. We also had Jerome Thomas on trial but it was cancelled that day so he didn't play and to top it all off we sold Sam Ricketts to Bolton the same day.
losing 3-2 at winterton is the one that normally gets trotted out. Tbh, I'd forgotten we even had a game tonight. Pre-season is a necessary process for fitness and having a look at a few things. I'm sure a first pick XI loses matches in training against reserves all the time. There's no real intensity or atmosphere and games are stop start with players being subbed and stuck in wierd positions to accomodate triallists and kids. The team we put out looked like a reserves side in the main, but the injury list is a little bit of a concern. Anyway I'm sure Bruce Snr has seen where we need some strengthening and more players will be coming in as well as a few going out. In short, pre-season is for the players to get fit and super fans to go to ****-holes like Donny for a meaningless game.
To be fair i remember going to that Crewe game was absolutely miles to see us get hammered, and only about a handful of us City fans turned up. Either mental or dedicated unsure which. Tonights game was dull, we played pretty poor all round. No service to poor old Proschwitz, Aluko looked class, Stewart was on and off, but showed glimses. Bar them i wouldn't say anyone played well. The trialist was decent in a poor team to be honest. We found out Dudgeon is more one footed than Dawson and that he really can't play right back.
last away friendly I went to .. (discounting winterton and ferriby as these are nice events .. not games IMO)
I was at the Crewe game, so my money's on mental. Definitely agree about Dudgeon, he's less one footed than Dawson, but he's too one footed to play right back.
