With our new additions, along with last season's players, we seem to have the same mix as the old Wimbledon team. Add them to mh's penchant for a hard working, close knit, combative style of play could we possibly be a new and improved crazy gang? Perhaps we should move to sw19?! Who knows, we may even beat Liverpool 1-0 in the fa cup this year........
That may be the single most depressing comparison I have seen on here. I sincerely hope you are 100% wrong Mack, the 'Crazy Gang' Wimbledon were a disgrace.
Soopermack, that's an awful comparison. The Crazy Gang was made up of has-beens and journey men on a shoestring that kicked their way around the park. How in the name of God are we anything like them?
I loved what the dons stood for regardless of their football. Flyer: what is our average age now for our 1st 11?
were nothing like the old wimbledon, we have some decent footballers in our side, how you can compare us to the kick and run merchants is beyond me.
They were a bit better than people give them credit for. Plus, it was a little light hearted jokey thread to cut through the boredom of all the players we're being linked with. I know we don't play long ball stuff, was more referring to the eclectic mix of players we have, from crazy cisse to basher Barton, old man Derry to flapper green! Sorry to have offended so many! I'll shut up now.... ;-)
I think we certainly have the most nutters in the PL, diakite, Cisse, Barton. Its just a shame we couldnt keep hold of Taiwo, he would really make me laugh with his celebrations and that rugby tackle was legendary.
Love, I disagree! Diakite v Fulham, vinnie would've been proud. Can't believe how easily offended you lot are being, I will be vindicated in 9 months time. I'm a patient man, I can wait......
You carry on mate I think you have a good point in fact ... MH's team are always fighters and have to share his winning mentality ... name a better side that expressed this than Wimbledon ... I used to love the dons and hated the fact that the game put them down as thugs plus Jones etc could actually play ... I will prove your point re the cup winning side. Dave Beasant (c) went on to play 778 games at top flight Clive Goodyear finished his game in Hong Kong Eric Young went on to play for great Palace side Andy Thorn went on to manager and played for England as well as play for the good palace side Terry Phelan went on to play for City Chelsea and Everton Dennis Wise 11 years at Chelsea and played for England Vinnie Jones played nine games for us! Leeds, Chelsea, Wales multi millionaire now Lawrie Sanchez international Manager Alan Cork went on to play for Sheffield United and then manage Terry Gibson Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City, Manchester United John Fashanu England and Villa
So vociferous are their arguments, DT, it feels as though they're trying to convince themselves not me. I know I'm right, and I think without those "thugs", our football history Would be the poorer for it! Who apart from the Red side of scouseland, didn't take them to their hearts in that final? They paved the way for all us smaller clubs to realise the big boys don't win all the time!
Eamon, eh? Derry, Hill, Barton, cisse, Diakite! All erm, uncompromising shall we say in many games last year. Nelson ddoesn't mess about either, not to mention HH.... And I mean all this in a positive way!!
I have been a season ticket holder for 45 years but QPR will have one less supporter if we ever adopt the relentless up and under tactics of that Wimbledon side. And one of my lowest points in all that time was when Jones joined us. Its a disgrace to compare Diakite with that cynical thug.
