2 weeks ago I woulda been happy signing boyd as I thought, he is quite a creative player who can score and set-up goals. He wouldn't be a first choice necessarily but he'd be a good creative player to come off the bench and we don't have many. But now I think, we have Varney and have no need for him

Peltier and Beckford I would take though. Still think there are better RBs about for 750k-1m than Peltier but we are starting to become a little desperate in this area

Boyd - can't head the ball, is slow, does not track back or defend and failed miserably to make any impression in the championship last time round. Definitely not the type of player for us. Powderpuff.

Don't think Boyd is good enough for us, but my dad lived in Peterborough so I've seen a few games...to say he doesn't track back or defend is ridiculous! Made double figures in assists for Posh last year as far as I know as well. He's outstanding at league 1 level, and is still good enough for Peterborough. But for the side supposedly chasing promotion we are...sadly he probably doesn't quite cut it. I'd love to be proven wrong mind!

I think you're selling Boyd short, I'd be quite happy to see him join Hull, he's a handy player.

The only thing positive I could take from the sale of Snodgrass is that he was slow, give him some pace and he would have been a brilliant player. Boyd has less pace than Snoddy and less skill, we seem to be filling up with 'handy' players and it is the icing on the cake and the ones who are going to make a big difference that we are now crying out for.

Think we still need a few 'handy' players anyway to be honest, we're desperately short of defensive options (hence Crainie) and attacking midfield/out wide (hence Boyd). Don't think Boyd would start but if we could sign him in addition to a top winger, I'd take that. Cover and competition is fine with me!

We HAD the chance to bring in someone 'better' than Snoddy and we didn't even attempt to get in touch. Sone Aluko would have been exactly what Leeds United needed and the fans would have loved him, anyway despite efforts by some to get Leeds to look at him, they didn't and he's joined Hull City. I am very aware of what Warnock thinks he wants at Leeds now, and players like Snoddy and Aluko aren't his style.

So all the effort that he made in keeping snoddy was just bullshit cos he does not fit into warnocks style, I suppose tarrabt was not his style either ?<ok>

Listen to Warnock on Tarrabt, he was never keen and I would suggest he was forced to play him on several occasions. I don't buy the bullshit about him trying to persuade Snoddy to stay, he's made it clear that he wants physical players who will do exactly what he wants and play to one style, players like Snoddy and Aluko don't fit into that.

And to be fair to Warnock, I think the guy knows how to build a promotion winning team a lot better than you do. Maybe Aluko didn't want to join, maybe we didn't look, maybe Warnock didn't want him. A 'Warnock team' is, dare I say it, a hell of a lot more likely to win promotion than the fantasy sides you put together.

Most depressing post ever. "We don't need George Boyd because we have Luke Varney", might as well be saying we don't need Billy Paynter because we have Andy Gray... oh wait.

I do believe you have a much better shot of Lg1 than we do, unless the bookies are really wrong, which rarely happens now does it, 2 leagues apart at the end of next season I will miss playing you guys love the 6 points <ok>

Think you could be selling both short to be fair, can't remember green being on the losing side against our Norwich midfield boys. And thought Boyd has at least held his own against them, despite playing in a poor team.

Do their performances in cup final games against us really give an accurate picture of their overall ability?

If Boyd shat himself playing for Forest, I dread to think how he'll do in the high-pressure zone known as Elland Road.
Derby fans were hoping Green would leave before we were even linked with him, and he appears to offer little that Danny Pugh can't.

That midfield just looks a total mess to me. Will it be capable of retaining the ball for more than two passes' worth of possession? Will they have the footballing brains to pick out the holes in opposition midfields/defences and play the killer pass? Honest questions.

I think with austin and green in central midfield we have a strong pairing, but as always we know what thought did, so I guess we will have to wait and see !!, but green was wanted by other clubs and Derby had offered him a new contract, we still have signings to come I hope the defense is looking far better than this time last year, we still hope the takeover goes through, and we will surely improve on last years results, so at least we are moving forward right now.

I can't ****ing believe you got that monster Austin for 300k, and we paid 3M for Olofinjana....to be honest it's fair, we got Aluko for nothing and you got Austin for 300k despite the Brann requesting 2M, still wished we got both
