Agree with you cat , some people have said our under 19 team is best seen at this level for some time . If we're a 1/50 shot to win the league , is there a better time to blood these youngsters ??? Save the experienced pros for our European games and the big games against Hearts !! .
Play them in Europe too, the boy Marcus Fraser played better against Rennes than Kelvin Wilson has ever played.
Thomas, i agree, he never put a foot wrong that night and i don't think we have seen his face since. The players we have need a kick-up you- know- what, just to keep them working hard. Celtic's game plan has always been based on hard work and I think we need to have pressur on our stars to make sure they always do it.
Clumsy **** damn tried to injure half the team last week. Neil Lennon targets Norwich striker James Vaughan as he looks to boost Celtic strikeforce Jul 30 2012 CELTIC boss Neil Lennon is planning a second swoop for James Vaughan. Lennon tried to land the striker, then at Everton, on a six-month loan deal in January 2011 but missed out because of an administrative error. Now the manager – who is desperate to recruit extra firepower after watching his side score only three goals in six pre-season games – will try again to sign the former England Under-21 frontman who is poised to quit Norwich. Lennon got a close-up view of Vaughan only last week when he played in the Canaries’ 1-0 win at Parkhead. Paul Lambert paid £1million to take the 24-year-old to Carrow Road last summer but he was dogged by a knee injury. New boss Chris Hughton is willing to allow him to leave on a season-long loan andthat has alerted Celtic, Birmingham and Huddersfield. Only a red-tape blunder prevented the attacker from joining the Hoops 18 months ago after he had returned to Goodison following a loan spell at Crystal Palace. Vaughan then returned to the Selhurst a red-tape blunder prevented the attacker from joining the Hoops 18 months ago after he had returned to Goodison following a loan spell at Crystal Palace. Vaughan then returned to the Selhurst Park side for the rest of the season. He became the Premier League’s youngest scorer when, at 16, he netted for Everton against Palace in April 2005. A source said: “An offer to go to Celtic would be too good for James to turn down. “He was excited about the prospect first time and was disappointed when it didn’t happen. “Also, the chance to get involved in European football would appeal. “I don’t think he would be difficult to deal with if the opportunity arose to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
I never really noticed Vaughan on Tuesday - the Norwich fans we were drinking with seemed to think a lot of him (they were a laugh as well, btw). Why aren't we getting a Centre Half? We need at least one Centre Half NOW.
He was leaving his boot in all over the park. I don't know whether it was lazy, clumsy or malicious. The centre half conumndrum Wait to see if we get Champs League money to buy Centre half Don't get to the Champions league Don't buy a Centre half Repeat ad nauseam
What's the script with Kelvin Wilson - I went to the game on Tuesday having heard we'd loaned him out only for the cunt to start and get injured . I don't rate Wilson at all. We need someone aged over 28 to partner young Rogne (who I still reckon will be a brilliant defender) - I think Lennon wants to start with Rogne/Mulgrew after trying to get a senior defender in Majstorovic which didn't really work out properly. Even just one. Just one player that can play Centre Half and play a simple pass instead of turning into trouble like Wilson. Please Santa. Please.
I really really don't like buying from any English Premier team. They exchange £12m on very mediocre players internally - what to hell are we going to get for £1m?
We'll need to pay more than a million, sadly but we don't need to spend on the rest of the team (unless Ki or Wanyama go). Unless Stokes or Samaras or Hooper is about to leave, we do not need another Darryl Murphy in loan form.
correct sammy is a good enough "big man" for when we need to go route 1 with one up top lets get a good established centre half on the fringes of a decent italian or french team - 3 mill job done and a ball playing striker with pace oh and sell bangura in a swap deal
Samaras, Stokes and Hooper are good enough just now. Midfield including Kayal, Ledley, Ki, Broon, Commons, Wanyama is good enough. Mulgrew and Rogne (with no real back-up) as Centre Halves isnae good enough.
Who says we have to buy from down south? Look at the deals we've done in Europe for the likes of Wanyama & Kayal, and even further afield with the likes of Izzy and Ki. There are players out there in the 2-3 million bracket that could definitely improve our squad, and our first 11 if they can play centre half.
getting a reliable centre back is and must remain the number one absolute priority....and it has been for a shamefully long time, negligent I would say, lennon must........well, you know the rest.
Seems this story's growing arms and legs. Not happy if true. His best season was with Crystal Palace in the Championship in season 2010/11 where he scored nine goals in 30 appearances. In a total of 90 games he's scored 19 goals. How is that any better than Murphy?
I definitely would go for Vaughan if he is at all reasonably priced. I think he is exactly what we are missing, he can play a bit, looks like he has a shot, and what he can really do and our Polish goalie found out to his cost, he really target the keeper. To have a player that can lead elbow first into goalie's head is a great attribute, frightens the life out of the goalie and defenders. The best thing last week was one Of Scotland's finest didn't see anything wrong. Centre half Saturday proved we have good back-up to Rogne and Mulgrew Listeig, played brilliantly and certainly is worth a place. I did not like him last season but I am very pleased what I saw this pre-season from him at cb or rb. The thing about signing an European based veteran centre half is he could well finish up no better than Dan. When Dan digned he ticked all the right boxes, until he started to play.
We'll swap you Vaughan for McCourt, Paddy McCourt. Although I'm not sure we fully understand that if you sold us McCourt, Paddy McCourt. The Glasgow police may have some civil disobedience to deal with.
