I do think that defining who is a bigger club is very difficult. There are way too many variables. Take Chelsea and Liverpool for instance. Two complete opposites. The last 20 years has been the most successful in our history yet the last 20 has been the least fruitful in Liverpools. Now if we compared the two teams there are several criteria. Revenue (money generated) - Chelsea Current Playing staff/appeal - Chelsea Current Worldwide fanbase (according to various stats/figures) - Chelsea "History" I.e Sustained success - Liverpool Attendances - Liverpool Overall trophies won - Liverpool Financial Muscle - Chelsea Domestic Fanbase - Liverpool In many criteria Villa could conceivably be a bigger club than Arsenal, most certainly Spurs. It's very complex and pretty pointless IMO
TNS, a German research company did a study in 2008 which showed Chelsea's fanbase was only behind United in the PL (albeit significantly) Adidas also claimed that worldwide shirt sales of Chelsea were the same, although I did read somewhere Chelseas we're slightly higher. Also when we went to the Baltimore stadium 3 years ago to play Milan the attendance was 29k larger than it was for Spurs v Liverpool. And I must say based in visits to the US Chelsea seem hugely popular along with Barca, Real and United. The official soccer store in Florida boasted a larger Chelsea section than any other bar United. Liverpool's and Arsenals section by comparison was smaller
Interesting debate. Shame the op seems to be obsessed with QPR? I reckon he used to be a Fulham fan and now he is Chelsea. A bit of a mixed up character who keeps changing his name. Think he maybe a a sad #### who needs to get a life.
All he is trying to do is stir things up between us. We know what he is like (####) and won't bother biting. Anyway are you lot getting Rhodes?
But you did bite, ELLERS. And why are you changing the subject? - this thread has got nothing whatsover to do with indivdual players.
if i did 'bite' i would getting into arguments about 'whose club is bigger' however if we change the subject the wum op will not get his satisfaction. You see?
That's the Royal "we" is it? It doesn't work that way on this Board. And ELLERS, the clue is in the word FORUM. If you want to make one line attacks on individuals go and play on Twitter.
It's not a bad thing with ELLERS here- with so much fair and reasoned debate amongst others, it's always good to see the other side. Makes us more representative of the general public.
It is a forum after all. But Rangers fans do tend towards the angry side and like stirring rather than discussing. Sometimes I think they don't read posts at all but just come on here to vent their spleen.
We can take solace from the reasons behind a person venting on an internet forum. I think it's fair to say they are not the words/actions of a contented man.
Absolutely agree with you silkship, if the post is adding to the debate. The point I was making with ELLARS though was that his posts were personal and had nothing to do with the subject of the thread. If he wants to stalk London EC and post (****), I'd rather he didn't do it here.
Sorry about this guys. If you would rather I did not post on your board I will stay off it. Ellers does seem to follow me around 606; he does not like Chelsea very much, that's for sure!
I was in complete agreement with your posts- mine was a subtle inference, but I'm not sure sarcasm translates on paper/screen!
