I was too- but a short read of the Jill's board tells you it was pretty inconclusive.

Sending a white player to Dubai for treatment while making MM go on the NHS amongst other things does stink of discrimination (though whether it was race or the fact MM is a ****- who knows?)

It is a joke that he won the case, it could really damage our club.

I read somewhere that Gillingham had sent other players (including black players) to Dubai for treatment if they were in the first team and integral to the manager's plans. Otherwise they were sent for NHS treatment, which is obviously much cheaper and more suitbale to a lower league football club's business plan.

Yeah I don't see what we have done wrong there, I know that Simon King was sent to Dubai however he was our best defender at the time.

I can believe that he was unfairly treated and they tried to bully him out of the club because they found that they had a rubbish player on high(ish) wages. In which case he would be entitled to claim for "constructive dismissal" or whatever was appropriate in the circumstances. If clubs make a bad signing they have to take the consequences, not try to weasel out of the contract by bullying or humiliating the employee. God knows, Charlton have made enough bad signings over the past four years.

But whether race was a factor I doubt. More likely he was known to be an a***hole. There are plenty of those around in all shades and sizes, especially in professional football.

Hoadie - with respect, you seem to be getting yourself tied up in the NHS story, go back to the Gills board and read the Guardian article and what his solicitor said. Basically if you fail to follow up properly on a complaint, as has been suggested, you are asking for some serious problems.
