http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19056545 Andy Carroll going on loan to West Ham for £2 million initial fee and with a view of a permanent transfer of £17 million, if West Ham manage to stay in the Premier League. I would imagine that Kevin Nolan must have played a big part in this transfer to convince Carroll to go to West Ham.
Not particularly happy with this .. If we're going to loan him out I'd rather we just try and sell him
Why do we keep doing stupid deals like this First we loaned Aqualani to Juventus while we still paid his wages and now this. Its obvious Gold and Sullivan arent going to cough up the 17 Million next year they will just turn down the option.
2mil is pretty damned cheap if you ask me to buy your prem survival. look we were told we accepted a fiorentina bid for aquilani then there's a denial... lets see what is said about this one before losing it over it.
I agree this is a stupid stupid decision fed up with this, i am too young to remember the glory era and I just want to see us back challenging, seriously we are going to be fending off relegation this seaon at this rate!!!
I'd imagine we aren't paying all the wages and there'll be a clause to make sure they buy him. These deals aren't drawn up by chumps, there'll be teams of people in the background at LFC maximising the deal for us.
Ridiculous, seems that we're still making stupid transfer decisions. Heading into a new season with a very thin squad. Only two strikers, Suarez has tonnes of ability but hasnt scored loads for us (yet) and Borini is a bit of an unknown. We had trouble scoring last year so you'd have thought that we'd be adding forwards not getting rid. Disappointed with our activity in the transfer market this summer so far. Too many good players out, too many **** players staying and no one really coming in.
I thought Brendan said a week ago we would not be looking at loan deals for Carroll. Im fully willing to support the guy but what comes out of his mouth seems to mean the opposite when the situation resolves..... Andy not given a chance....not happy
On the positive note - 'Ramirez has indicated that he would prefer a move to Liverpool and not Manchester City which is where his agent is desperately trying to push him. It is still early in terms of negotiating the numbers (transfer fee, salary, agent's cut, re-location package etc) and we have no idea at this time, if we can pull the deal off. Although things sound positive, we would still urge caution because the agent could be a key figure in the player's decision.' Are you having a laugh we as a club are being taken for mugs every time we buy a player deals may not be drawn by chumps but ours certainly seem to be borderline to muppets on most deals we have done. Just need to off load Bellamy who is playing awesome at olympics and that should be that, s'alright tho we still got carra at the back.
Strange one. I would imagine that if they are paying a feee then they would be paying all of his wages as well otherwise the £2mil will disappear within a few months. The annoying thing is, £2mil is nothing to then put towards another forward. If we sold and got £17mil this summer then we could re-invest in 1 or 2 more players but we are going to have to wait until next year to do that, IF West Ham stay up and then stump up the cash.
We need to go with BR on this. He must have a plan in place, we just need to give him time to show us what it is!
There are people much better placed to make the calls than us, and in reality we know absolutely nothing about what's going on behind the scenes. It's not even August yet, there's time yet. Give Brendan a chance. Carroll was hardly a key player last year, was he? Now, that's a different issue, but in a years time we could get £19M for him - and we'd be very lucky indeed with such a return on our wasted money. Thank you. EDIT: We also don't have the normal summer schedule due to the tour, the Euros and the Olympics. Perhaps this is why players have left before new signings have arrived and so on - simple logistics and timing. There is no reason to panic - yet!
Absurd decision, Andy Carroll was one of our better players in the 2nd half of the season. With the right service (i.e a winger who can actually cross a ball) I'm convinced he'd get 15-20 a season. So far Brendan Rogers is not inspiring confidence, i can see a long hard seaon with plenty of excuses.
Think he scored 2 league goals in that time, and the goal against Everton. Let's see who BR brings in before we criticise.
Agreed, lets just wait and see what the details of this deal are.Carroll's position is obviously going to be filled by another striker and the coming weeks will be busy with transfer activity. Slightly surprised at a loan deal but yes, let's trust BR on this one.
