Dinamo Zagreb football director Zoran Mamic has said Modric to Madrid for £35m is 'done'. Dinamo to get €2.5M.

A couple of weeks back he said that Zagreb would get 5% of the transfer fee. Based on that, 5% of €50M = €2.5M. €50M is £39,370,079 based on a €1.27 to the pound exchange rate (current) or £40,000,000 using €1.25 to the pound. Looks like Levy might have got what he was looking for. The exchange rate would need to be just under €1.43 to the pound for €50M to be worth only £35M

I wonder if a player exchange could be part of it, Deedub?
If someone's thrown in, would we have to pay Dinamo an equivalent percentage of their value?
Maybe Mamic was just rounding up, alternatively.

Possibly, but with exchange rates changing all the time neither side needs to lose face. I just hope that this transfer saga is over sooner rather than later. Mourhino obviously knows the way Levy works and if Modric is wanted in Madrid before the Window closes he knows that he will have to pay to make that happen.

The Adebayor transfer worries me though. Him and Levy are two of a kind, that one might run until the last day unless Man City cave in.

It's probably more accurate to say 'unless Adebayor caves in' - I can't see City ever agreeing to his demands.

However, if we've got what we want for Modric (something which I will be <laugh>ing about for a while) then we can go for better targets.

    Hoppy Birthday, Roo! (Geddit?) <diva>:emoticon-0166-cake:<diva>

It's been a quiet past week or so in the transfer market for us but if we can sell Pienaar and Modric, as well as sign a striker and make some head way on signing a Modric replacement(Dembele, please) this week I'll be very happy.

Surely Ade's 'demands' are simply that he doesn't lose any money as a result of the transfer. Hardly unreasonable.

    hahaha cheers YV!

YV, I've literally got nothing to talk about. everything being discussed at the moment is just repeating what we all agree on. i really don't like how we've completely gone quiet in terms on transfers. if we really are waiting to sell Modric before buying replacements, it's getting v silly. the season will be here before we know it and we'll be trying to get business sorted last minute with no time for the new players to gel with the team. it's doing my head in. same old spurs at the minute, yet it looked so promising a couple of weeks ago.

Ade and modric are the tipping point atm, we really really need Ade, + one other.

I think with Sandro/parker, VDV + Thud in midfield we will be fine without luka, but we absolutley need a couple of strikers, and a winger/inside forward. Lennon is a winger and will never ever be able to score/assist enough to be what we need in the new formation.

If we stick to 4-4-1-1 then we still need a new winger as cover. (I'm also hoping we keep using townsend as he looks pretty good, at least as a sub)

I'm hoping it's a case Levy working on several things at once and soon their will be a rush of deals being completed like we had when AVB was confirmed.

I think everyone's getting a bit tired of pre season now, hence the one word thread :D

It is unreasonable that he is on such a stupid salary. Became a big fan last year, but he doesn't justify £175k a week and no sensible club could or would pay it.

Agreed - but that is due to City's stupidity and they need to pay for it......If his contract lasts two more years they have the choice of paying hime £18m for doing nothing or paying him £8m to leave as we will be happy to pay him the £10m in salary. Since City save £10m for the same outcome it is obvious that both we and Ade will drive a hard bargain.

this is the first of many problems that football is going to encounter with paying wages that are too high. if a transfer like Ade to city doesn't work out (like it hasn't), this is the outcome. there could be many more to come if "superstars" don't meet their potential. 99% of clubs cannot pay these ridiculous wages.

    this is just the start.

And we complain about Bentley being on a third of that. Surely we can con someone into matching that salary - are Liverpool looking for a winger?

Daniel Levy strokes his white cat in triumph.

    Oh, there's also this...
