I think in terms of chances it was fairly even in the first, though Honduras were definitely better in the first than the second.

I do see some promise in the future Spanish teams though, maybe not as dominant as they are today, but with Muniain, Javi Martinez, Alba and Mata coming through they do have some stars.

 

Was disappointed with Alba, that Muniain looks a decent player who will go far, even if he did look a bit like Torres.

 

Spain fans behind me and Honduran fans the left of me and they had some great banter going. Each trying to outsing the other and make jokes jokes about each other. All done in a very friendly way and both sets of fans did their teams proud. Created a great atmosphere to make the match that little bit more memorable.

 

Just come back from the Japan vs Morocco & Spain vs Honduras. The Spain game was one of the best I've ever seen live. Just wondering if anyone had been to either of the olympic matches or are planning to go to the Brazil game.

 

Quite a few of us were there tonight and I know I'll be there on Wednesday too.

 

I must admit we were viewing the swimming and cycling yesterday, (tv though), I kept trying to have a quick peek at the Spain -Honduras game, I couldn't believe the behaviour of some of the Spanish players at the end of the game. It didn't look pretty at all, Mata looked concerned and seemed to put himself between his own players and the officials, definitely not in the spirit of the Olympics!

wonder if he thinks that barging into the ref from behind will go unnoticed
all the refs are quallified FIFA refs, and abide by the same laws

Didn't notice that but did notice De Gea raise his hand to the referee at the end. 7 bookings and not many of them for fouls tells you something about the attitude of the Spain players.

 

I've got tickets for the quarter final tie on Saturday and while I'm delighted that it looks like Brazil will be playing, I am disappointed that Spain won't be. Watching they highlights of the Spain v Honduras game, the Spanish had more than enough chances to win the game at a canter.

 

Games aren't won on chances created, they're won on chances taken. For my money Honduras deserved their win.

 

Spain were the better team but Honduras deserved to ride their luck and probably won a lot of new fans in the crowd last night.

 

I think most of the neutrals got behind Honduras.

 

Men's Gymnastics team did very well today. Bronze position - and so nearly a silver. Really raised their game and looks like we have some promising lads for the future coming through.

And men's hockey team team 3 up against Argentina.

 

Don't watch hockey but I thought Argentina were really hot at it. A bit of an achievement if our guys can beat them.

 

Was going to give you some yellow star rep but ...................... You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Obi Wan again.

 

I had a morocco flag on one cheek and Spain on the other... Jinxed that one methinks..

 

Seemed to be more people with the Rising Sun painted on their faces, near me.

 

We had Japan fans in the row in front and the row in front of them was Morocco fans.

 

The amout of Japanese banners was mental..
