Good result for the ladies today, through to the next round already! They look a half-decent team, unlike the men...

Fantastic, well done for them. When I saw Cameroon, I thought they looked technically better than New Zealand, however far less organised, hence being on the wrong end of a couple of high score-lines.

Today I saw Japan vs Sweden and Canada vs South Africa. The first game was excellent, the atmosphere was great (loads of Japan fans) and you can really see why they're world champions. They played some pretty awesome and skillful football. However, Sweden finished 3rd in the World Cup so despite being the weaker team, played well, defended well (good goalie as well). Towards the end it became really end to end but finished 0-0, although how I don't know.

Canada vs South Africa was also a good atmosphere, loads of Canadian fans who made quite a bit of noise (though slightly less than the Japanese fans). Despite Canda scoring first during the first half, the game was fairly even for the first 50 or 55 or so minutes and South Africa had a few good opportunities. I dunno whether it was due to Canada being a much more fit (in the athletic sense) team but they dominated the rest of the 2nd half and it finished 3-0, could have been more and they hit the woodwork several times.

Overall, it was a fun couple of games.

GB started brightly, but the longer they looked for a second goal the more certain an equalizer was. Could be anything now.

    Inspired substitutions by Pearce!

Tomkins looked a bit off the pace at times, especially for the UAE goal, but overall a much better team performance. Thought Ramsey was very good, gave us the creativity we've been lacking, and Bellamy was brilliant again. Giggs looks very lethargic, but got a goal I suppose.

UAE will win more hearts than games playing like that. They can play the ball around, but without the ball they never applied pressure and neither did they defend well. It's clear that they rarely play high quality opposition.

GB looked more impressive than the usual England ****e. The Welsh contingent obviously have a positive impact. Bellamy, Allen, Cleverly and Richards did well.

    Was impressed with GB tonight.

Sordell was impressive, and Sturridge finish was fantastic. Bellamy was absolutely class as well! I've got tickets to Wednesday's game, so I am now officially excited about it, rather than only having a passing interest in it.

Yeah at those 2011 Olympics ;) They haven't been at the Olympics recently but they did win the U21 European Championships in 2011. So you get some points :)

Just watching on Sky Sports News now that people are actually whining that certain players don't sing the national anthem. This is newsworthy?! It's just a bloody song, and a song which, in my opinion, contains some rather dodgy and outdated connotations. What is wrong with some people?

I'm actually amazed by the attendance for Britain's Women's Football game v Brazil, it's really fantastic to see the girls getting so much support.
