Do you fear he'll have a reduction in performance? I think Wilshere's main attributes are his calm on the ball and his possession play, so even if he loses his pace a little, he should still be a good player.
I agree. Some people, although incredibly talented, just aren't physically capable of a 10-15 year career in professional sport. It's a big shame for Arsenal and England.
Obviously I don't know it as fact. The guy might have a great career but it's very rare for someone of his age to be out for this length of time and come back and it increasingly seems that his joints can't take it and there's nothing anyone can do about that.
I don't know if injuries of this sort are that rare. I think the both his original ankle injury and the knee turned out to be more serious that was first diagnosed, and wouldn't heal on their own. I don't think that is very rare these days. Essentially, it has only been two injuries that he has suffered, but in both cases they required surgery. It might be a case of simple bad luck, but only time will tell. He has admitted to trying too hard to come back too fast, so perhaps not pushing him is the best thing Wenger can do.
I know as much about it as you- **** all- so I don't know how you can definitively say he's nothing like Hargreaves. Rosicky and Van Persie didn't miss anything like as much football at that stage of their careers when it is so important to play and develop physically.
Hargreaves didn't miss very much football at that stage of his career either. Hargreaves problems didn't arrive until about 2007ish after he was about 26. So in that regard (as you have now admitted) Wilshere is nothing like Hargreaves.
