Ah right fair enough, I heard all those, aswell as calling Bruce a dinner lady. I had no idea there was a recording so that would explain why it was all being called for then.
Bit disappointed with Prossy in the air he didn't win many headers for his size, but seemed quality on the floor, I can honestly seem him scoring 15+ goals this season once he gets up and running!
for some reason, cullen refused to shake the hand of opposition 18 or 19 i think. possibly out of self frustration more than anything. i reckon he knows he is getting near his last chance saloon, which as all who know me know i think is a shame. having seen his development through the youth ranks, i still believe he has a talent for putting that round thing in the net, although granted it appears to be a hidden one for now. i just hope bruce can help him come good. and maybe the right loan move is what he needs. rochdale or hartlepool perhaps. the latter as its not so far his home pastures in ashington
Cullen's definitely at last chance saloon, he needs a League One loan and he at least needs to make a mark at that level.
the only ex-player he didnt call for, who may actually have been the only sensible suggestion in his armoury was Nicky Barmby himself. Forget ***an, Hughes, et.al. Now there is a player who could help at the moment! As i said at HT OLM, we look so threadbare all of sudden, its unreal!!
We certainly missed Nick's impact as a sub last season, he was exactly what we were missing in the latter stages of the season. Though I don't think the gentleman in question missed that, he was calling for him to be manager, player and chairman.
I think he got better as the game went on to be fair; after "almost" letting the ball trickle into his own net and a kick that went all of 25 yards. Like Alex Bruce, he's a gobby bugger. Never shut up the pair of them!
Il go out on a limb perhaps, and I know you won''t like it OLM as your attitude seems set on this issue, but I don't think Alex Bruce did anything wrong yesterday. In fact his distribution was probably better than Chester's. Despite Chester's undoubted potential and ability, he is always prone to the odd schoolboy defensive error and a mis-placed pass after a 'Lawrenson-style' break from defence. Maybe a little pressure from within the squad can help him eliminate, what for me are the only flaws in his otherwise excellent game. Accusations of nepotism and potential changing room disruption aside, Alex Bruce could turn out to be a better and more cost-effective squad addition than say McShane, Devitt, East or, dare I say ***an or Hughes whose potential acquisitions I find quite bizarre. Just like the potential effects of the Man Utd old boys clique concept, nepotism, etc is for Bruce (Snr) to manage.
I know the character responsible for starting the "Barmby Army" chants. He's one of the Manchester Tigers. It was something of a one man tirade although others did join in when he moved on to "Fish Out, Dolan Out" and "he shoots, he scores, it must be Mally Lord". He received a few looks of thunder in response to his Barmby chants, and a couple of saddos tried to take issue with him, but most people saw the funny side.
Other than his first clearance being a six foot pass to a Rochdale player, he didn't do a great deal wrong, but then it was a friendly against Rochdale. My issue is far more with the unnecessary problems you cause yourself by having your own son in the squad, rather than his ability, though I do think he'll get found out agaińst better competition, exactly as he did at Leeds last season. I also don't think we need another centre back, Chester and Hobbs will be first choice, Faye will cover until Hobbs returns, Cooper is cover for them and at the noment we have Bradley and McShane too.
This argument is a non starter, no one wanted jack here last season due to the problems it could cause with nick being his dad, and jack is a talented young lad with potential. Alex doesn't even have that in his favour, he's been **** everywhere he's been. I see it as a big gamble for nothing, not to mention a waste of wages. However after what happened at brum I can hardly see Steve making the same mistake twice, so I'd guess Alex must have to really fit in with the players before he's even considered.
Completely agree with this. I thought Bruce did have a cracking game yesterday and he marshalled the young lads (Dudge and Chester) at the back brilliantly. If he can reproduce that on Tuesday night against tougher opposition; I'd give the lad a chance!
During the pre match warm up - who was the guy with trackie bottoms , blue training top with a fluo vest on - he had a tache? Training gear had initials SC on them.
It's Stephen Clemence, he's the reserve team manager so I'm not quite sure what he was doing with the first team lot as Keith Bertschin is the first team coach.
