We are all, well I assume all, sitting waiting for that breakthrough, that announcement on Sky that we have made that signing that will start the influx of new players.

Surely it must come this week?

Defenders and midfield we can wait, not ideal but wait we can, strikers, well we have waited 18 months and we don't just need them for kick off, we need them settled before kick off.

The Hartlepool game confirmed what we have known for a long time, none of our strikers, including Sess, will score the goals we need. Maybe Campbell will hit form, maybe Wickham will come good, maybe Ji will surprise us, maybe Bruce and O'Niell were wrong and Noble is ready.

The big problem with maybe is that maybe they are not and that maybe could see us adrift if we wait until the end of August, I know that, you know that so MON must know that.

The big problem we have is that the chairman of the club our new striker or strikers are at also know we must buy, how we got into his ridicules situation I have no idea but here we are and maybe Short needs to bite the bullet and pay over the odds.

Get that striker in this week and we have 2 weeks to train him, get him settled and get a few games in, ever day that goes by, IMO, increases the risk, increases the concern. When MON came we had a wave of euphoria, optimism, happiness, all that, well for me at least, has evaporated and been replaced with a dark cloud and growing concern. We lost Bent then Gyan and replaced them in what seemed a last minute panic with Bendtner on loan, no more panic buys please, no need, we have know for months and should be ready.

Short says he wants improvement, O'Neill says he knows who he wants, time to sort it out.

Before anyone says, in O'Neill we trust well yes we do but, after years of following my team and seeing them cock up so many times, I cant say in Sunderland I trust 100%, I want to but they make it hard.

This week they will restore my faith, wont they?

I do believe you have just eloquently expressed the view of a lot of SAFC supporters from far and wide.

Id be more worried if all around us were buying players left right and centre or even buying players "we" are after.

Im trying my hardest to be patient. Whilst clicking refresh every 5 seconds on every web page/rumour mill available :-/

Quite simply we have to improve everyone knows that but the abe biding their time so as not to pay over the odds. If it comes to it last minute and its not done i think they'll pay what's necessary to bring the player in.

Atm I think we are playing chicken with With Wolves over Fletcher to see who budges first.

Interesting that he was left out of their squad yesterday

I have faith in MoN, and it is unwavering. But like you, I just wish they would hurry the **** up!! Seems like this is the SAFC way though... happens every year. I do think we are going after some top class strikers, and prob why its taking a bit longer. If we were going into the Championship/League one for strikers, it would be wrapped up quicker as the player would want to make sure his chance at the EPL doesn't pass him by...

If it was an EPL team were buying from, I think it would be out in the press by now. The english teams can't seem to keep their mouth shut. I do think one of them is Fletcher, but I think we might be in with one from overseas. Well, least im hoping thats the case.

It's the same with most clubs, for some reason it's been a very quiet transfer window so far, apart from Chelsea and West Ham. In an ideal world we would have signed a couple of star strikers, a top notch midfielder and that quality left back we've been pining for for years, already, but we don't live in an ideal world.
Actually I'd say it's a good thing, it looks like MON is taking his time and going for quality rather than quantity and quality is more difficult to get.

Another positive Syd, is that MoN finally shipped out McCartney and a few others who we have been desperate to get rid of for the last few years. Them being on the wage bill from Keano's days was what was stopping us from signing other players probably, as the wage bill was too high. I expect with it being alot lower, we will get that quality through that we have been desperate for.

With parker on this one there are only a few teams actually buying players, if we were alone in not buying then yes I'd be very worried and that day may come. Until then though not overly concerned, yes we need in my opinion at least 6/7 first team players not squad players first team players from front to back. Which is why I think next week will see that one player move which will start the roller coaster off then, it'll be a free for all with teams including ourselves picking up the players that we at least need.

I dont get the we are not alone thing TBH, we need a few strikers and we need them now, what other teams are doing will not change that.

Fair one mate but, teams are waiting for that one player to move it's similar to a chain in house buying as soon as one deal is done the rest follow.

MON has a track record of waiting till the last minute to make his main signings, I wouldn't expect anything before the last week of August for you guys.

    This for me.

Also does anybody else think that West Ham are lining themselves up to be the next Portsmouth/Leeds if they don't do well this season. They are throwing money about all over the place that they have previously not seemed to have (£17m bid for Carroll aswell).

Being a little chastened by what has happened to Pompey and Rangers I am happy that we appear to be looking for players within our budget and not being rolled over by other clubs. Still, it woud be nice to have some movement soon!!!!!

Think it's Ms Byrne we need faith in at this moment, not MON.
Unlikely we won't have signed anyone by the seasons start.
Even if we do surely it better we get the best deal as 10K a week over three years is a lot of money.
    So worry not!

Think Gold has had a massive increase in Dildo sales, possibly a British themed one for the Queens Jubilee and the Olympics.
