So two blokes that nobody's ever bloody heard of, one of whom is quite clearly utterly partial, then?
    Ok, I'm convinced. <ok>

The only piece of work from them that I can find sees Matley deal exclusively with the report itself.
He doesn't offer an opinion on the authenticity of the dairies.

Keep cheering on the ****, though. <ok>

Yes, he deals with the report itself. Discrediting the work that you cited as evidence that the diaries were legit.

Are you not a British Jew?

    Your strawman is pathetic.

Doesn't seem to have worked though, does it?
The general consensus appears to be that they're genuine and that the criticism of the work done to prove that isn't just.
Any reason why that might be?

No, I'm not a British Jew.
What did I say that was remotely a strawman?
You don't appear to understand what the word means.

The general consensus......You have called the man a *****phile. You have attacked people for defending him yet now all of a sudden you are prepared to go with "general consensus".

As far as I can tell the general consensus amongst scholars is that it is unlikely that he was a kiddie fiddler but very likely that he was a homosexual.

There seems to be one person with any qualifications disagreeing with the forensic examination of the diaries and he appears to have been completely ignored.
As there doesn't seem to be any current controversy over the authenticity of the dairies, barring the odd kook, it seems safe to accept that they were written by your hero, who was a ****. <ok>

There are loads of people with qualifications who dispute the findings <doh>

If you were to do an examination on anything & report your findings would you provide data to show how you reached your findings???

There has been controversy about the veracity of the diaries since they were first released into the public domain. And there continues to be controversy about it. The only person who believes there is not controversy is you.

The Egyptians created slavery. Greeks and Romans built their empires on it. Your argument has no validity.

The British abolished the specific slave trade that they helped create and run. If you are fighting the corner of saying that the British were abolitionists, then I can make they point that they didn't abolish Egyption, Greek or Romain slavery, in fact slavery in 2012 is bigger than it's ever been in history http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contemporary_slavery.

So if they didn't abolish prehistoric slavery, and they didn't abolish modern slavery, it is true to say that they helped abolish the 18th century transatlantic slave industry - the one which they helped to create and were the single biggest administrators of during that 18th century.

Ok, we were the first to abolish our own slavery. Very forward-thinking for the time, and you can't expect us to abolish anyone else's can you? Then you'd probably slate us for imposing our values on others ;)
