Well as a Hull City fan i have a keen interest in him for obvious reasons. However i was reading an article ( http://www.football-lad.com/jimmy-bullard-cheeky-chappy-gone-wrong/ ) and heard he had been up to his old tricks whilst he was with your club. Just wondered if he was a bad as he was whilst he was with us. Do you still want him at your club? Thing with us is we knew he still had the ability to be a top class player at this level like the article said, it was just a matter of attitude etc.... Tiger fan in peace, not a WUM. Good luck for the season ahead, i will no doubt pop down for our match at your place.
I dont think he has done too much which can actually be called poor behaviour. Only one casino incident springs to mind and that involved other players aswell. Unfortunately he has never repeated the form he had produced during his loan spell and has rarely featured for us as a result. I wouldnt say I want him gone as he obviously has the talent to change games but his wages, although not stupid, are going to be at the higher range of our scale and for that you expect more than what he has shown. I think in general town fans would be split on whether to keep him or not. What are your expectations for the coming season. I see you have spent decent money on a striker which came as a bit of a surprise and was wondering if that was a one off or a sign of intent?
" Unfortunately he has never repeated the form he had produced during his loan spell and has rarely featured for us as a result. " Well that is slightly unaccurate, as he was a key part of the diamond last season. I think I read with Bullard in the team, we won 6 drew 3 lost 1. Make of that what you will. I see where your coming from though, it hasn't gone as smoothly as the loan spell. I think fitness has been a concern and attitude. Based on how he played on loan, we simply had to sign him up. Even though he's probably on around £18,000 a week, there wasn't any transfer fee paid. I'd like to think he'll have a great season this time around. Could be his last chance to play in a decent side this term, hope he's up for it!
Personally i think it is a bit of both really. I think the money is there for Steve Bruce as he wouldn't have come if there wasn't. Yet he accepts that we are still recovering from when we where in so much debt last time. I think it is a one off for that sort off figure but it would not surprise me if we spent more on another couple but more around the 800k-1M mark. On our expectations i think anything less than play offs is failure. The last two seasons have given the younger players a chance to get to know this division and learn their trade, now its time to push on towards where this squad can go.
Even when he played in the diamond I thought he looked half the player he was when he was on loan. Firstly he looked really sluggish whereas when he was on loan, he looked brilliant he wasn't pacey but he drove the team on with enthusiasm. Secondly he really did look like the weak link in that diamond (not really his fault(, he really is not suited as playing the deep lying midfielder he needs to be higher up the pitch, as he was trying to force the play to much from the deep lying position which often meant he went for the hollywood pass when he didn't need to just because he was so desperate to create something for the team and often the deep lying position is all about starting the move off not supplying the killer ball. Unfortunately Jewell got Andrews and Bullard the wrong way round in that formation as Andrews is great at starting a move off and upping the tempo but terrible at the killer ball or the more intricate stuff. I have a feeling Bullard is finished but I really don't want him to be as on his day he is our best player!!
