    Sorry, but you're talking bollocks.

Taxation in scandanvian countries is extremely high compared to the UK. The people voted for it and are happy to pay it, as a result they get good healthcare and good public servies and amenities. But don't kid yourself that the public get it on the cheap.

As for the US. I lived in New York city and some of the things I saw there would make your toes curl when it comes to healthcare. All very good if you've got a health plan or insurance, but if you can't afford it, you're are basically ****ed. I would see people on the subway still in their work suits, begging for a few dollars to pay for essential medication because they had just lost their jobs and with it all their health benefits that came with it.

I work for the NHS and I control a budget within it, let me tell you, nowhere else in the world do you get better value for money than in our NHS system. It isn't perfect and there's always room for improvement, but the people who work for it are dedicated and committed to it. If you think it's a crap system, then you should spend some time in a country that doesn't have state health care and I think you'd soon realise that the NHS is something to be proud of in this country.

The 'chavs' are those that aren't quite smart enough to appreciate anything unless it involves half naked dancers and things that go whizz bang tbh. It was a ground breaking ceremony, just not shallow enough for some it seems.

nvm, there's always a new season of Takeshi Castle or Robot Wars to look forward to :)

Which I said they pay alot of tax. But they make alot of money. And saying that pints cost alot there as if its relevent to their taxation = you dont understand how economics and tax works.

Your hardly impartial if you work in the system.

It might be ok but doctors, nurses and nhs staff are overpaid. In the last 15 years their effective pay has gone up to an exceptional level in the public sector and especially in the nhs. It isnt a free market so we end up paying people more than we need too.

I would of preferred half naked dancers or more fireworks and special effects to the crap we got given. A tribute to the national health service in the olympics opening ceremony. Why? Very weird indeed.

How was it ground breaking? In that there was so little choreography, or for it's pretentious propaganda in the first half?

    So, how many is it?

And please do tell how the deaths are dedicated to lack of health insurance, since you are implying it's so easy.

I read earlier that the tory MP who made a twat of himself on Twitter is the same guy who was sacked by Cameron for going to a Nazi themed stag do

Do I have to explain that one to you? As a mod you should be the one trying to steer people away from flamy political/religious/racial discussions yet all the time you are the prime instigator in these. Even when the discussion is completely sports related you try to bring that **** in.

This is the Olympics thread, we were talking about the opening ceremony and that subject was brought in because it was part of it (NHS). Loads of people are talking about that subject today. So far, none of the sports are of any interest to me and has clearly not caught the attention of anyone else on here because nobody has brought it up.
