Yup Ramsey played well, just pointing out a flaw in his game..

Ramsey actually looked half decent, shame he'll revert to his normal self when the season starts.

First time posting long time reader. (Hai)

Don't you think Ramsey only looked half decent cos the standard was pretty poor? I mean he did look at class above anyone else on the pitch when he came on but still think hes got along way to go, i mean from my perspective he was shocking for most of last season and got carried through a lot of the games. Lets hope he gets back on track and starts improving as a player

I actually think for the first half of the season it wss ramsey who was carrying the midfield. After the death of speed he was traumatized. With regard to the olymlics its always easy to disregard the quality of football but the fact remains the footballers were generally of international standard and playing for top clubs. Facing a stubborn even physically over the top defense ramsey proved he bas what it.takes to unlock the defence and play that crucial pass in the final third.

And i must say its a disgrace (not necessarily on this board) that rvp has more support in some quarters than ramsey who has been through a lot. Rvp is deluded into thinking he deseves trophies based on ONE good season!

This seems to be the first Olympics opening focusing primarily on the TV presentation side (close quarters). The audiences there probably couldn't make out much of what's happening without the screens...

I tried to be open minded about this whole thing but... why the **** were dancers doing the epilepsy rave routine to the tune of Abide With Me? <laugh>

"Fifty dancers, including choreographer Akram Khan, are using images of mortality such as dust and the setting sun to dramatise the struggle between life and death." Oh... how obvious.

I am not one of those flag waving patriotic types, but must say that last night's ceremony was probably the best I've seen - and I've seen a few :p

Now then, about these German VIP's?

I wasn't actually saying it was bad, just some bits were a bit too "wat!?" material.

Some bits felt like they just said "choreography is hard, let's just confuse them"...

But it was different I guess, so it's good that they went with something of their own.

    Well said <ok>

Too many lazy Ramsey haters on here, who forget that when we lost Fabregas, Nasri and Wilshere through injury, it was Ramsey who was tasked with holding together a brand new MF. He did okay in my opinion and some of the criticism he gets is total bollocks.

The opening ceremony must have been good as it's pissed off Tory MP's and right wing journalists <ok>

Well making a quarter of the ceremony an NHS ad was pretty lame.

It's an international event, it shouldn't be politicized.

    NHS = Political?

I think the idea was to show off what much of the world envies us for as well as how we have contributed to the world. There is no doubt that our NHS is envied (the concept at least) and things like the industrial revolution and web need no explaining tbh. I still think it was a very clever and well executed effort.

I was dreading it since we got awarded the games because this country always does **** & unimaginative celebrations, but not this time :)

Really enjoyed the opening ceremony. As Cym said, the fact it pissed off the Tories ****s just made it that much better. Bravo, Danny Boyle.

A massive thing for the NHS was a joke. I defend the NHS but if you look at the stats it is a million miles behind the health care you can get in most other countries like norway, Sweden, france and germany.

As for the ceremony. Says how **** of a country we are when we peddle Mr bean, james bond, some bored old queen, a bloody health care system and the two biggest attention whores in the world - david beckham and "sir" paul mcidiot.

I thought we had a culture and a history to be proud of. Not looking at that ceremony though. I am sure it kept the chavs happy in the uk but I dont think the rest of the world thinks anything other than we are ****e. And a look at the ratings on sites like youtube show the rest of the world (who the ceremony was aimed at) was completely awful.

And why does beckham even get a role? he is a celebrity ffs playing some crappy football in america whilst trying to attend film premieres and get his face on tv or in the papers at all costs. If beckham was an olympian he would never of even made a final. Usain bolt = fastest man in the world, beckham = never even top 10 or maybe 20 footballers in the world. As for mccartney ending the show (again...) wtf?!?!?!?! I thought this was the olympics. The artic monkeys? What the heck. Just light the ****ing flame after the athletes come out.

My next door neighbour has just returned from a week in Norway. He told me it costs £7.50 for a pint. The health care system is brilliant but the taxation rates are high to pay for it.

Thats got nothing to do with it though. Scandanavia is "expensive" to british people because of exchange rates. The Norwegian currency is strong and ours is weak. So with the norwegian currency you can buy alot of sterling and the opposite is not true. therefore things there cost alot to us. Doesnt mean they are expensive.

Although they do tax their people alot it doesnt really matter. They still live very well.

I know someone who had a heart attack in the states and survived because he was in the states. He would of been dead with the same attack in the UK. The NHS is "ok" but the results arent good in comparison to other nations.

How many people die in the USA every year because they can't afford health insurance ?
It is a fact that people in Scandinavia pay very high rates of tax which is why they have such good welfare systems
