...then we should be after reading this http://betting.betfair.com/football...ch-among-relegation-favourites-270712-39.html I just love it when they underestimate us, don´t you, always brings out the best in the Norfolk bulldog, I´m certainly dreading the day when they actually think we might hold our own, because that´s a sure kiss of death. So underestimate away, I say, think I´ll stick a few quid on a top half finish
I read the first paragraph then realised I was reading an article written by someone who is not competent to do so, so stopped reading. Though Norwich finished behind Swansea on goal difference alone on their Premier League return, having climber further in a shorter amount of time, they didn't appear to receivequite as much credit as the stylish Welsh side.
If nothing else it just puts fire in the bellies of players and fans alike. We'll ram their predictions down their throats as per usual OTBC ... CTI ... IHWT
Well that is very true. It defies belief that so many people truly think Paul Lambert was bordering on a god like figure and was the only person capable of managing the group of players we have. For heavens sake (to keep up the religious theme a bit) he made enough mistakes last season for everyone to see he was not the be all and end all of football management. He was good and did exceptionally well but I still think it could have been even better if he hadn't buggered about with the team every week! I really do believe we will be ok again this season and cannot see a good reason (unless most players drop in form) why we can't perform well again. They are the same bleeding players with added experience under their belt
I'm thinking we'll improve on 12th...feeling really positive about our signings and manager - turner I think will put some steel in our defence - and snods and butters will have big seasons - howson to get a full season - holt to get his England call up - cant bloody wait...now would be the time to stick that £100 on a top half finish...might look into that today...
I don't care what gamblers think We will be fine think the lads will be fired up enough by Mr Hewtun challenging them to go and show what was achieved last year was down to them every bit as much as it was Lambo,
I am uneasy about predicting places as the margins are fine but I don't think we will go down. But who will? This will be a very tight season in my opinion.
Totally agree TC - especially liked the 2nd paragraph and I'm sure that by changing the team so frequently he actually did more harm than good!!
Don't think you can say that, even if you are measuring harm and good purely in terms of points gained or dropped. If you look back to the early part of the season, Lambert actually played a pretty settled side. It was mainly in the latter half of the season that he kept changing things. The way he handled the squad made a lot of sense in terms of keeping key players relatively fresh, and giving everybody decent amounts of match time so that if and when the ones we fans regard as "squad players" as opposed to "first choice players" were needed, they were able to come in and perform.
We'd still have been among the relegation favourites. Pundits and others just can't get their heads round the idea that glamour and reputation count for nothing. What counts is winning and drawing matches.
Amazing RBF bor, there actually exist two teams worse off than us, that can't be right. You ask ColMike, he will give you the FACTS !
the fact is, if we swapped our total squad for the total squad of, say spurs, we would still be more likely to be relegated than them according to the bookies. it is just a fact of life supporting city, we will never get the recognition that we have rightfully earned.
in all my time watching city in the top flight i can't recall a season where we weren't pre-season relegation contenders! its the easy option for the punters
IMO, until we've been in the Prem for at least 3 continuous seasons (Hopefully in a few years time), we'll always be relegation favourites
But the actual point JR, is that being cast as perennial relegation candidates will always make us lift our game, whereas being given a vote of confidence could easily make us lackadaisical. I must say, I far prefer it this way round, the more others understimate us the better. And whether grudgingly or not, we still got plenty of nationwide credit last year, despite being labelled as no-hopers.
It doesn't matter what the media and other fans think. What matters is what we think and what the team do. The only people who can affect our league position is the team. Negative reviews from the media and other fans won't affect that.
Totally agree with your statement and I just loved the MOTD 'pundits' having to admit that they were wrong about the Canaries last season. I know I am more excited about our prospects this season (I think CH is an excellent choice as manager - complete with his backroom staff and not forgetting Mr Watson I presume), as at least we won't be like 'rabbits caught in the headlights' in the first few games and hopefully we'll have some points on the board by the end of August. I'm off to see the Friendly on 11th Aug and I'll be in my usual seat in the N&P on the 25th, for the visit of Koo Pee Arr.
