17M for Carroll <laugh> This must be a joke...Fat Sam said about playing Hoof Ball is a requirement to get out of the Championship sometimes and when
thats achieved they can go back to the "West Ham Way". Signing Carroll and some of the other players they've been linked to is definatly not with the ambition to play it on the floor. They're becoming a bit of a joke tbh.

Fat Sam won´t suddenly change his ways and I´m sure West Ham will be as direct this season as they were last season. I do find it strange that he said that Hoof Ball is a requirement to get out of the championship when we showed that it clearly isn´t!
If they sign Carroll, then that would be an awesome signing for them but he can definitely do much better than West Ham....
I do find it stupid though when people say that when a team wants to sign someone like Carroll then it means they wan´t to play hoof ball. He is good in the air and holding up possession but he also has a good shot on him, works very hard, makes life very hard for the defenders and gets in great positions. We have Lambert but we don´t play hoof ball and he has the same qualities as Carroll. Whether they sign him or not, West Ham will play the same way.

17m though remember...for how many goals did he get last season? Remember Christiano Ronaldo cost Manu less than that....

Perhaps it is when you're just not very good as a team.

Spending 17mill on 1 player is a recipe for financial trouble for a newly promoted team. It would be a huge mistake

And when you add Reading to that too. Two automatically promoted teams didn't hoof their way to promotion.

Hoofball is the West Ham way. Just because they played a little bit of nice football a few seasons ago the fans think that is the West Ham way but it isn't. With big fat sam you know exactly what you're getting, they'll probably never go down with him in charge.

Also Carroll is a good player I think Liverpool are making a mistake getting rid of him. He's only had 1 season there. He's got potential he showed that not only at Newcastle but in the league cup final with Liverpool.

Actually, to give the club a little credit, that's not entirely true. They've tried to play football the West Ham way, just like Saints have tried to, in their own way, for as many seasons as I can remember. The truth is, when you're never going to win much, you're going to give your club a distinctive style. West Ham's was fast paced one touch, fairly clever football, ending at the near post, as opposed to the old style far post. It won them a few trophies in the 1960's, and was entertaining stuff. They've abandoned it in recent years.
