Rangers: Ally McCoist criticises SPL's 'hostile agenda'

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has criticised the Scottish Premier League for pursuing "as hostile an agenda as possible towards" the club.

The relaunched Ibrox outfit have been granted conditional Scottish FA membership , allowing them to start their season at Brechin on Sunday.

Protracted discussions over membership, which involved the SPL, had placed the Ramsdens Cup tie in doubt.
"Rangers have not been punished enough in [the SPL's] eyes," said McCoist.
    More to follow.

Oh I really have to laugh at the irony of his comments, over the last decade we have heard nothing but the "Parkhead Paranoia" and here we have a Rangers manager complaining about "hostility" and "agendas".

    What a sad unfunny joke.

Doubtless we will now be bombarded with arguments that he is not paranoid but 100% correct.

I doubt any fans of any club will buy that. It's arrant nonsense and no doubt Peter Lawell will be in the firing line as the blue tinted paranoiacs focus Ally's maldirected ire onto the "Enemies" of Rangers FC.

Everyone does dislike Rangers, but then again everyone loathes Celtic equally and if the roles were reversed i'd expect to see Celtic treated exactly the same.

Tonight's statement is on par with Alex Mccleish , 8/9 years ago . Commenting on Rangers history of '132 years of unsurpassed dignity '.

And, in a lengthy statement, the manager described the recent uncertainty over Rangers' status as " a ludicrous situation"

"No one is denying that Rangers were badly mismanaged for 10 months," said McCoist. "Nor are we disputing that we should be punished for that. We have been. We accept that punishment and want to start putting the past behind us and move forward.

"But that is not being allowed to happen - and I have to ask myself why?

"In recent days, I have been in a number of meetings with Stewart Regan, Rod Petrie and other senior SFA figures - and despair at the lack of leadership shown.

"In my years in professional football, I have not always agreed with everything the SFA did or said. But, no matter what you thought of their decisions, there was no doubt they ran the game firmly and robustly.

"I can only imagine [former chief executive] Ernie Walker looking down on us now and shaking his head in disbelief at the sad state of affairs and the way they have been mishandled.

"The SPL kicked us out - which was their right- and we acknowledge that - but that doesn't seem enough for [chief executive] Neil Doncaster and some of his board.

"Having said they don't want us they do want a bigger share of the TV money that our presence will bring to the SFL and its clubs. Never mind sporting integrity - where is the moral integrity there?

"And there is no line to be drawn in the sand. Rangers have not been punished enough in their eyes and along with one or two people who have a vested interest within SPL clubs, our right to past titles will be challenged.

"They want what we and our fans bring, yet seem determined to strip us of every bit of our dignity. It has to stop."

McCoist went on to thank the SFL for inviting Rangers into the lower league set-up.

"It is time to start playing football again," he added.

And within 10 mins of getting their 3 day licence , they sign Ian Black . As for mentioning Farry and Walker , two men that helped corrupt Rangers do what they wanted for years in Scottish football .

I tend to agree, especially in the case of Farry, that affair still reeks.

On reading the press statement, one wonders just what the hold-up/argument/discussion was all about. Seems to me that Green has agreed to hand over televised rights, accepted the transfer embargo (albeit he's got this window to get players in) and the dual contracts issue/EBT investigation can still end up with Oldco being stripped of titles. Why would Green care about the dual contract situation in any case - unless there was any chance of other penalties being imposed on Newco besides stripping Oldco of titles?

Green probably does not give a toss about the Dual Contracts, it's not as if stripping titles will dilute his investement, but he has to pretend to care. It is expected - nay demanded = of him.

I have no doubt McCoist and others were whispering fervently in his ear to get what they wanted - nay expected.

I think we have a right to know the name of 'Ally' McCoist's father. He should be named and shamed for bringing such a sleezy prat into the world. <whistle>

The problem that the Sevco have, is that Green doesn't want them playing football this year, he has neither the money or the
backers to keep the side afloat in the SFL3. Green does not want the humiliation of administration returning around the new year.
However equally important he has to pretend that he wants League football for his yet unnamed club. If the loyalists, sorry I mean
the loyal fans thought for one moment that he was opting out of football for a year or more a holy war would start in Govan and he himself
would be on the top of a loyalist bonfire in Govan within days.

The more statements/interviews McCoist does the more I'm covinced he's a member of FF or Rangers Media.

He seems to be spouting the same ill informed **** they are.

Getting pumped out of Europe twice at the first hurdle, pumped out of two cup competitions early doors and making an absolute **** of a 15 point lead to finish miles off the pace... Yup... Badly mismanaged.

I wonder if he'll make a better fist of managing at a lower level with his new club.
