I've always rated Srktel . a strong no non sense defender and I would say in todays market worthy of a 15-18 million price tag
He's decent, but had a very good season just past. When he joined he was good, but he was very shaky during Rafa's last season and under Roy... even under Kenny's 6 month spell. He looked liable at any point to give away a penalty or a freekick. Last season he seemed to cut out the errors in his game, got a lot better in the opposition box and was noticeably leaner - more athletic and smarter on and off the ball. Saying that, his performances are remarkably better when he has Agger beside him - a much better centre-back who dovetails very well with Skrtel. That would be the main cost of losing Skrtel - football is about pairs and those two work very well. That's a bit of a lottery really, and centre-backs should have consistency and understanding. NB - who will you play beside Williams now that Caulker has gone? Is there concern that you could be weak at centre-back, or have you adequate cover?
Bought Chico. Laudrup knows him from their time at Mallorca. Unknown quantity/quality to us but Laudrup rates him. We shall see.
