Well, my smiles and laughs may have added to their motivation, though that was simply a result of their actions <laugh>
Tbf, it does rather show the stupidity of our southern neighbors that, despite the fact he was clearly becoming increasingly wound up over this, he never once thought to move to one of the other 30,000 empty seats, some of them even in better places than ours. Can't have been THAT bad for him <laugh>

So who's everyone going for to light the cauldron tonight. I'm going for Steve Redgrave though I really I want it to be Daley Thompson.

Could be a team effort, with a few more from the past. I know he's not the most popular but Seb Coe could play a part and our own Big Bren and maybe Sally Gunnell too.

Lots of former glory winning Olympians to share it around.

Hope it is Redgrave though, I wouldn't object if it was Bannister, Thompson, Pinset or Holmes. However I think it will be Beckham.

Think it's bound to be Redgrave. Who else have we produced whose won 5 gold medals over 20 years? Can't see it being Thompson since he took part in the torch relay the other day.

Doesn't matter whether they've carried it before, all the big names already have.

Redgrave before Beckham please. Becks might have been an ambassador but he was never an Olympian. He got his name on the football field, let those that did the business at the Olympics get the honour of lighting the flame.

Exactly plus Beckham is overrated and lived off the goals against Wimbledon and Greece, as well as marrying a Spice Girl.

It should be Redgrave, an outstanding Olympian, Beckham as much as I like him is not deserving of the honour.
Daley Thompson is out of favour, he made a joke about the Irish, apparently there's been a huge public outcry about it, he's definitely out of the running now.

He would be great and as there is a lift to the top dont think it would be a problem.
At 83 think he may find the 400+ steps to the top a bit hard now.

Shame. He was accused of racism, he made a joke about a ladies tattoo which was spelt wrong, saying the tattooist must have been Irish.

To represent the real people of London, it should be Wayne + Waynetta Slobb.
