I came across this article: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/niko-kranjcar-blasts-lying-tottenham-1171980 Levy you liar! Niko Kranjcar blasts 'lying' Spurs chief and says he promised to let Modric leave this summer "He promised Luka he would let him go, and now he's condemning him... If you were in Luka's shoes, you would probably do the same as him," says Croatian AWOL: Luka Modric is trying to force through a move to Real Madrid AWOL: Luka Modric is trying to force through a move to Real Madrid Clive Rose Niko Kranjcar last night sensationally accused Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy of being a "liar" and breaking a promise to sell Luka Modric. Unhappy Modric went AWOL last week and missed the club's pre-season tour of the US to try and force a dream move to Real Madrid. But Modric's former Spurs team mate Kranjcar claims his fellow Croatian was made a promise by Levy he could go this summer and backed his decision to go on strike. Dynamo Kiev midfielder Kranjcar, who finally quit this summer after three years at Spurs, said: "I know that the chairman talked to him face to face last autumn. He promised Luka he would let him go, and now he's condemning him. Daniel Levy 'He has also used lies to deceive the public': Niko Kranjcar has let rip at Daniel Levy "Levy did everything to protect the interest of the club and make a profit. He has also used lies to deceive the public, which is allowed in business, but if you were in Luka's shoes, you would probably do the same as him. "To have an offer from Real Madrid is a once-in-a-career opportunity. I'd do anything to get to Santiago Bernabeu, playing for Real Madrid is the greatest privilege in any footballer's career, even if I prefer Barcelona. That's why I understand Luka." Kranjcar also claims that Levy is more interested in profits than players and makes the players suffer while he holds out for every last penny in transfer fees. Bitter Kranjcar also claimed Dynamo Kiev is a bigger club than Spurs and says Levy never talks to players but held back Dimitar Berbatov for two years even though bigger clubs wanted to sign him. Kranjcar said: "In my three years at White Hart Lane, I never had lunch or a serious talk with the president. There was no need. It's not customary for bosses to invite you for a cup of coffee, even if you're their next-door neighbour like I was, in Cuffley. Tottenham Hotspur's Croatian midfielder Niko Kranjcar 'Dynamo Kiev is a bigger club than Spurs': Kranjcar is happy to have left White Hart Lane "I know from my own experience how difficult these people are and how hard it is to break out of a contract with them. "Remember Berbatov? And it was the same with me: they held me back for two years, until finally my new club paid what they were asking, and not a pound less. "That is their speciality: they set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for. "Kiev is not London, but it is very good for city life, and the football teams are very strong. Dynamo Kiev is big on tradition and the fans, and though lots of people will say it's not like Tottenham, if you look at history, Dynamo Kiev is a bigger club than Spurs." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I read this and felt it had bitter written all over it. The part that really stood out was the comment about Berb leaving because he left before Niko joined so what would he know about what happened. Also there was no need to diss our club. Thoughts?
What a twat. We don't sell players until clubs pay what they're worth? Oh, no! How evil of us! Assuming that this is all true, and it appears that it is, then he's just shown how out of touch players are. Not just with the fans or even the game, but also reality. He appears to think that everyone should just bend over backwards to sell their best players to enhance their careers. "What's that Barca? You want our best player? Better just have him then. Don't worry about a fee, as we wouldn't want to hold him back." I understand his bitterness at being left rotting on the bench during Redknapp's tenure, but this sort of self-serving drivel should be well beneath him. Don't want to be held to a long contract? Well don't ****ing sign one, then! This part in particular stuck out to me as total failure of logic: "That is their speciality: they set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for." In which case they're clearly not unreasonably high, are they? Extremely disappointing.
Wake up Kranjcar, football is big business that's why you are earning a fortune. Levy puts Spurs before individual players, and? Would these be the players who want to use Spurs as stepping stone to bigger contracts elsewhere? I smiled at this: : they set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for. Funny that they always get what they ask for Kranjcar if the fees are unreasonable! It's called a market and you're in it and doing very nicely because of it. Concentrate on your football and leave the business to people like Levy who know what they are talking about.
Notice these tossers always come out with this drivel as soon as they are out of the firing line. Fans idolise these players and then they decide that it was all unfair how they are treated. How many club chairmen socialise with their players- very few. Put your dummy back in and stand in the naughty corner!!
He's an ungrateful twat, talking through his arse!! Glad we're rid of him - and as Dona says, OFF THE BANNER ASAP!!
What a c*nt. Of course we're going to only sell players once their valuations are met... Do Apple say "yeah, have a brand new iPhone 4S for £50?!". F*ck off Krancjar, thought Harry said all these Croatians were meant to be model professionals? Luka goes on strike and now Kranjcar bad mouths people once he's left... Pr*cks... Rant over How is everyone today?
"held back Dimitar Berbatov for two years even though bigger clubs wanted to sign him." He was only with us for two years??
Maybe it's only me, but has your respect for Levy actually gone up reading that load of tosh? A chairman that puts Spurs before overpaid players, well ****ing great. Long may he stay our chairman.
I think that that is the point that Kranjcar is trying to make. The day he joined us, Levy should have said to him, "Look son, I know you haven't even kicked a ball for us, but I already feel I'm holding you back; and I know that United haven't even made an offer for you, yet, but I'm going to insist that you go and play for them instead. Transfer fee? You having a laugh, son! If I ask for money, United might say no, and that simply would not be fair on you or your development as a player. Now, don't bother unpacking, because I am personally driving you to Old Trafford."
Cheap shots at the club(not just Levy too). Can't see him getting a great reception if we play Kiev this year now. Silly twat
One in a career opportunity to go to Real Madrid? Apart from the fact that, if a player is good enough they have more than one opportunity, there's still the fact several players are wasted by Real - VDV being one.
""That is their speciality: they set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for." Levy 10 - 0 everyone else. Niko don't know the power of the Darth side.
Even Corluka had a dig when he was out on loan! It really is a pisstake and shows the state of footballers mind sets to think this way. No wonder there is 'player power'. I'm sure Levy got Modric to play another season based on believing we'll get CL but would sell on only on the bases on the club getting what he is worth if we didn't make it. Even so he's signed a contract and didn't request any buy out clauses at the time so has stick it out until we get what we should get for him. End of the day, it's the player that is lying if they say they want to move by going back on the contract they signed. If he wants a move so badly then why doesn't he buy out the contract he signed? That would mean you would be out of pocket in a big way so no, you'll just stamp your feet until you get your own way and the club lose millions. Someone needs to make a stand to these players because they are not bigger than a club. I'm glad Levy is playing hard ball. Just a shame no one else has the balls to.
The irony is that players do this all the time but with wages instead of transfer costs. They even run down their contracts to get more money ala Sol. It's safe to say footballers are more deluded than ever.
Kranjcar has only made himself look stupid with his comments and Levy comes off as the tough negotiating businessman many clubs wish they had. What's the problem?
