From a poster on RTC-Seems fair enough to me (if true). I can't believe the Sevco fans think it is good news. If everyone is happy then lets get this show on the road. Now, my information from an impeccable source is that most of this is correct but importantly there is an agreed draft of the agreement to grant a licence which is subject to the approval of the various boards. (So the licence is not “done”, but almost.) Law firms heavily involved on all sides. Sevco will have no liability for EBT/improper registration breaches of regulations. SPL will not commence proceedings against RFC(IA) in relation to EBTs/improper registrations until FTT decision is known. RFC(IA) obliged to provide a copy of the FTT judgement to SPL within 7 days of receipt. Sevco will pay domestic football debts and euro football debts and will not receive payment due from SPL for finishing 2nd last year (understood to be around £1.3m). The investigation into the EBT/registration issue will commence once FTT findings are known. Sevco will not be punished for any actings by Craig Whyte (and I presume David Murray by logical extension.) No mention of stripping of titles which is still open to the SPL once the investigation concludes. The FollowFollowers are hailing the deal as a victory for common sense and a triumph of negotiation by Charles Green. In fact he has just kicked the EBT can down the road; established that RFC (IA) will be investigated rather than Sevco, obtained agreement that Sevco will not be penalised for prior wrongdoing by RFC(IA) and conceded some media rights.
That is a complete cop out if accurate. The FTT matters not a jot because Rangers don't deserve to have titles stripped solely on the basis that they operated a dodgy tax scheme, the real cheating was the second contracts/side letters, if they had them (which has already been shown to be the case) then they have flouted the rules and should have the trophies removed from their records. If the SPL are hoping that the FTT will clear Rangers then I think they are pissing in the wind and even if by some miracle HMRC decided that Rangers had done nothing wrong it does not alter the fact that 2nd contracts were being used.
I agree with you on that point Dev and the same point has been made on the site where I saw this posted. However i am happy enough at this. I am in no hurry and I would much rather the SFA be armed with results of Hectors investigation rather than rely on them to conduct their own. The whole investigation could be done in less than half an hour to provide enough evidence to strip them of trophies presented to them if the will was there. It was already clear that there was no will to do this. My thinking is that the FTT will be so damning that the "over my dead body" spiel from McCoist will be rendered even more of an embarrassment than it already is as the penny finally drops that these trophies have to be taken away as they were not "won" by cheaters.
Anybody seen the bbc Scottish division three table , guess who is bottom ??? Set it as my screensaver on my phone for a couple of weeks
That makes no sense. So we are back to rangers being a new club with no ties to the old one. I thought it was supposed to be a share transfer? In that case any punishments should also transfer over. It really is just make it up as you go along.
The punishments would not have gone with the share if it had gone to Annan, so why should they with Sevco?
Press Statement ~ Rangers FC At its meeting earlier today, the SPL Board considered a number of issues relating to Rangers FC. EBT Investigation The SPL Board heard a report from its solicitors following the investigation into payments to, or for the benefit of, players allegedly made by Rangers FC outside of contract. The delay in concluding the investigation was caused by an initial lack of co-operation from Rangers FC. The investigation has now been completed and, in the view of the SPL, there is a prima facie case to answer in respect of its Rules. Disciplinary charges will be brought when the future status of Rangers FC is clarified and prior to the start of season 2012/13. http://www.scotprem.com/content/default.asp?page=s2&newsid=11440&back=home 18th June 2012
But Dev, Charles Green and Alistair McCoist won't ever accept any stripping of titles from Rangers. If the SPL don't back down Rangers won't be able to play next season and that would bring about the arrival of the Four Horsemen and the beginning of the apocalypse. Cos football can't live without Rangers. I mean Sevco. I mean The Rangers.
So the investigation is complete and on the face of it Rangers look like cheats but nobody is going to look more deeply into it until the people who have been looking deeply into it reveal the results of their investigation. Rangers must supply a copy of the FTT findings within 7 days..... Presumably in a format they can copy and paste from and not a pesky locked document or a PDF.
I am SFL and SPL are going to look harmless and bodies without teeth. It appears to me that they are only going to punish that lot if they cannot get out of it. We should not forget that allowing them to play in the wee ditty cup and to play in SFL3 the next week is on the basis that they have been linked to the discredited Rangers. That being the case the punishment has to be decided before they participate. After a month or two if the BTC finds against them it will be unreal to throw them out
