Have we given Alex Bruce a contract or not? There's not on the OWS. What's the delay?

Rangers probably feel entitled to some compensation as Alex Bruce once holidayed in Glasgow.

Which part of the Bruce household is Irish? I saw A. Bruce in a ROI training top today on the internet.

I think a few people have jumped the gun.

    It's not announced, so I don't think he's signed.

What good would it do to a player's morale to say "Alright mate, we've signed you, but we don't wanna announce it yet 'cos the fans'll kick off. We'll wait for a dreadful natural disaster to happen first and bury it then..."

Wouldn't happen. Poor pukey would be devv'od!

His dad wanted to sign him, Ehab said no, his dad started crying and apparently we are now going to sign him.

I hope he spontaneously combusts during his first training session.

    Talentless ****.

Think there's a real chance he might vomitoriolly combust, through excitement.

Are the Allams scared of upsetting Bruce? Then again, do they have a right to dictate who the manager signs?

    Interesting, very interesting...

Wait until you've seen him play for us (if he does) We haven't kicked off yet and you're moaning. Stop being so negative SB's not done bad so far.

    He is capable cover.

No point in signing a big-name CB, for him to sit on the bench.

Why does everyone hate Alex Bruce? fair play he is not at Chester's or Hobbs' level but surely he would be good to have as backup and plus on a free????

Based on that I'm not impressed with any of the parties involved. Surely Bruce can see why the owners had a problem with it? This is when they should have been assertive like they were with Barmby.

It's because all the evidence points to him being crap. Fans of his previous clubs say he's crap and those are clubs with weaker defences than ours. I've seen a few people state as you have done that he is 'good backup' but what exactly is that based on?

I don't hate Alex Bruce, I reckon he might be better than most give him credit for.

I base it on Cooper and Bradley needing loan deals to improve and I don't know why your listening to other fans about a ex-players... Isn't every player **** once they leave your club? Signing Bruce is a win-win, use as cover while Cooper and Bradley get some first team experience elsewhere and he is FREE.

The fans of every club he's ever played for say he's ****.

We have six centre backs already.

I'm available on a free and I'm **** too, maybe we should sign me, at least I won't cost us £10k a week.

I saw him play at Ferriby and Winterton and playing alongside Bradley you wouldn't know which one had played 200 games and which one was a teenager. It's not a lot of match time to base him on I know but it does point to him being crap especially when it coincides exactly with what his former clubs' fans say about him. Leeds fans can be fickle with former players I agree but I'm sure they'd still tell you Snodgrass is a good player still and even if they said Bruce was good what would that mean to us with the 2nd best defence in the league when Leeds had the 2nd worst?

I'm not having a go but I think it's really easy to type "Bruce is a win-win" without explaining why and without substantiation but all the available evidence suggests he is crap. I'm also strongly against not giving the likes of Cooper and Bradley a chance just because they are young. From what I've seen they are better than Bruce so they should play ahead of him regardless of age.

I get what your saying mate but if Bruce signs it means Cooper and Bradley can go on season long loans which is what they need rather then sit on the bench behind Hobbs and Chester. Even if Bruce does not sign Cooper and Bradley will get very little game.

I know it's not always the most reliable but it suggests he was a fans favourite at Ipswich, he's also made best part of 200 appearances at championship level (most of them not for his dad), while he's not the best he's clearly not that bad.
