Thought I might take a look at what we've all been predicting for todays match and it doesn't make good reading After 28 predictions have been made, these are the current standings... Win -11 votes (39%) Draw - 6 votes (22%) Lose - 11 votes (39%) 61% of those taking part do not think we can win todays match This confirms that it's not just the team that is low on confidence! I will keep editing this throughout the day as fans predict their scores
I done my Argus prediction on the 606 board and went for an easy Sunderland victory. Mind you, I had just polished off a bottle of claret at the time!
After predicting Sunderland wins for weeks and always being wrong decided to go for reverse phsycology and predict a loss Fingers crossed !!!!!
Sadly, under the influence of neither reverse psychology nor alcohol, I used my sober reasoning to conclude that we were going to lose this afternoon. I really do hope my reason is proved totally inaccurate but I honestly cannot see where we would get a win from today. Then again, where did we get a 3-0 win at Chelsea from? Even so, I am extremely doom and gloom and am not looking forward to this afternoon. (Mind you, in the absence of my wife and daughter on a school trip this week, I have discovered 20-20 cricket. I have been totally out of touch with the evolution of cricket over the last 30 years or so and this week, switched on ITV4 to find the IPL. (To prove how much I've been out of touch, I called my brother to talk about my discovery and that I'd seen a little Indian lad called Tendulkar (spelling?) who obviously has a bright future in the game. He put me right!) Absolutely fabulous. It reminds me of baseball in the USA and everything that goes with it - but much better because it's cricket. So this afternoon, despite all my pessimism, I'll be watching the lads on internet and the cricket on telly.)
Sorry to say that if you'd have done this last week you'd have seen that I went for us to lose - just being real, I'm afraid, and I have to say that I think we'll get beat today, too.
With the current state of affairs I prefer not to live in the "real" world! I'm trying to take the positives out of last weeks match, in that we did manage to score a goal (the other being an own goal!). Am I starting to sound like Steve Bruce?
Gotta be real, I'm afraid, after what I consider to be yet another false dawn. Totally pissed off with it all, to be honest. As to sounding like Bruce, in his defence he doesn't sound any different from any other Manager really, does he? They all live in a cliche ridden world - "learn from this", "work hard on the training ground", "move forward" - it's all a load of old ****.
Can't disagree with any of that. Like you and many others, I've been on a real downer after last weeks debarcle. It's becoming more and more difficult to KTF, but I try........
To hell with the real world, thats for after the game. These few hours are the only happy ones in my life at the moment, a good win, very player having a blinder, good flowing football, moving up the table. Please let me enjoy it..
Well we're all different mate, ain't we. Me? I'd rather be real now, and happy after the game. Works better that way.
