Just thinking seeing as we have a sticky for the cricket over the summer what about getting one up for the Olympics for anybody wanting to talk about them instead of the possibility of loads of threads being made? Also anyone watched any of the football? Some of those UAE players look great!
Agreed though not in that way I'm not gay lol (which is good because that's probably banned over there)
Of corse . I know we debated it in length and it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it is an important sporting event. Plus I'm excited as I have tickets
Agreed not in a gay way! Some of the football they played was great I honestly didn't expect it and thought Uruguay would easily put 4 or 5 past them. Omar Abdulrahman i think the guys name was really impressed me, he showed great composure, skill and passing ability
All I'm really interested in at The Olympics is Jessica Ennis and the Table Tennis. This could be combined into 'Table Ennis'. I'm not sure what this would involve exactly but it would probably have to be on after the watershed. And Tickets would be like Gold Dust.
I have volleyball next Thursday at 9am, athletics on aug 4th at 10am, and hockey the following Friday. I also had some of the biking events, but sold them on as they were out of London and collided with prior plans. I'm looking at the football final, but tickets are nearly £200 each. Does anyone else have tickets?
Tepid, excitement-free game tonight. Senegal the dirtiest team I've seen in a while. Lovely goal from Bellamy. The referee's admirable efforts to play advantage whatever the situation undermined by the fact that he hadn't got the faintest idea what he was doing. Really sinister "GB" chant. BTW, has Steph Houghton been watching JJ? That was one hell of a free kick against New Zealand.
I'm going to have a walk down to tower bridge from tobacco dock at lunch to see the barge with the flame. These kind of things never bother me, but I must admit to getting a bit excited now.
The Ticket website is really useless isn't it? Says there's tickets remaining fro all sorts but then when you go to order some it won't let you? I know I'm late - am I missing something?
Just heading through west end now after a lovely long meeting, and it's absolutely amazing. Leicester square is buzzing - so many different national flags, everyone celebrating and conversing. Quality atmosphere.
Good grief - much as I admire Danny Boyle's films, I just had to turn that opening ceremony off. Definitely an i-player job.
I enjoyed Bond, Bean and Oldfield. My idea of an opening ceremony would have been much better, but I won't bore you with the details. Dizzee Rascal would not be within 100 miles of it. Chad are my favourites to win the most medals. I am at Hadleigh Park next week for the mountain bikes.
I thought the whole thing could have been done better. Tried too hard to promote the mukticuitural side of GB. Why was there no Clive mendonca, not a Morrisey record played all night, no Charlton life march past, No john terry, not enough egg and chips London for me. No d day landings no spitfires. Not even a Falklands reference- I know but sod them. I did enjoy the Bond theme, the tribute to the NHS which was the only set which looked correct ethnicity wise ( no sign saying 5 hours waiting time though) . The industrial revolution theme was a gem. Drizzle Rascal was completely naff and puke inducing. The tribute to those murdered by the London bombers was very moving. The queen looked bored and apart from the parachute jump did not really do much apart from clean gunk from her nails all nite. It did on the whole make me proud to be British. whatever that means. I don't know what the world made of it other than we can't have any decent white dancers.
I just made the short walk in to Greenwich- and am very impressed. Some of this foreign totty is top drawer
