I think we need someone like Allen in there, to calm things done and simplify our midfield play. But, that doesn't look too bad, impressed by Shelvey's strides forward this summer.
LFC-009 has a serious issue with Gerrard, he's been saying for a while on here that we should move on from Stevie. Fair to say, I'm with you Luv
Was pretty funny, I was going "no that's not Joe Cole! That's not Joe Cole!" Then I realised I was talking to myself
Did you get to the stage where you started to doubt yourself...? Edit: thing is, they were talking about Cole and then the camera went to Spearings feet before working its way up to his head. I thought it was Cole until it got to his mug
I'm sorry, I should have said: **** sake y r we payin stupid money 15 mil for allan who is he even !!! we shud be buying Cavani for 30m easy dnt spend on allan spend on him plus sell lucas an reina an then we will get him. club is gonna be relegated nxt yr if we dnt fs what is rogers doin to our club drawin with an american team fs
can't understand all the hype about Allen. Is never worth £10 million let alone £13-15!! We already have youth and quality in our midfield. Use it and save the cash rather than keep paying for Rodger's 'pets'!!!
lucas is the guy rodgers is building his team around.. is allen the same type of player? is this 15mil for a reserve. are we to sell spearing then? what of henderson and shelvey? find out next week same bat time, same bat channel.
I feel we have a lot of youth and potential in our midfield but we lack the quality (only Lucas and Aqua should considered as first team starters). Not sure if Allen will provide this though ...
No, Allen is much more attacking. He can do a bit of everything (he'll make tackles and go forward too). He really does have quality about him. He's very composed, very balanced, good passer of the ball. He keeps things ticking. His role would be the 'link' of the midfield three. Lucas holds, Allen links, Gerrard looks to attack.
Are you serious about aqua? I wouldn't even give him the honour of warming the bench. He isn't fit to wipe Stevies arse
Gerrard of 2008ish > Aqua Gerrard of now is injury prone, lacks his dynamism, slows down the attack and is not consistent enough. In terms of mentality and attitude, of course Gerrard is above Aqua. But in terms of making a contribution to the team, Aqua is a classy midfielder who will improve our team. Gerrard came back last season and it coincided with our worst run in a very long time ...
Lucas getting injured also coincided with the bad run...and the Suarez ****e too. Yes Gerrard has had injury problems but aqua aint exactly had an injury free career eh. Totally disagree about the things you've picked up on about Gerrards game and I agree even less with your assertion aqua is classy. What exactly do you base that on? A few fleeting glimpses a few seasons ago or his distinctly average loan spells after which we still can't find a buyer for him? Or is it his brilliance in pre season that puts him up on the pedestal? I'm not too keen on signing Joe Allen for 15 mill but if it meant seeing the back of that leech....then sign him up quick.
Agreed that there are other factors that led to our poor form. But our general football seems so much better without him. Look at Kenny's first 6 months in charge and we were winning and scoring goals for fun, as well as the first few months of the new campaign. I know we lost Lucas and Suarez but our general attacking style does not just completely diminish because you lose a couple of players? Everytime I have seen Aqua play, he looks calm and composed on the ball, he can pass short and long, can create assists and score goals. He has the technique and intelligence to fit into BR's style. And I saw some of his performances in Italy and he looked like a key player IMO (didn't see a great deal). With regards to injuries, Aqua has been injury free for about 2 years now (I think) which bodes well. Whilst I don't believe Gerrard is finished, I don't think he should be commanding a first team place anymore but I do see him as an important member of the squad. He could be a brilliant super sub to have? I can understand the scepticism towards Aqua because of what happened in the past but at the end of the day, he is a Liverpool player, he is a top class player (IMO) who is better than all of our other options so why not play him for a year, boost his value and then sell him? Because at the moment, we'd be lucky to get £5m for him.
But anyways, I don't want to derail this thread into another one of my anti Gerrard rants. I think we need to beef our midfield up more, starting with the wings and attackers.
Firstly I am happy to debate all day with you as to why aqua most certainly is not better than our other midfield options. Secondly all the attributes you list for aqua Gerrard has in droves and much more. Thirdly drive, desire, motivation and passion are a big part of what makes a class midfielder and aqua has none of those attributes. And finally...if we could get 5mill for him I'd carry the ****in blurt out of Anfield myself and drop him at Lime Street
