I think it would be a bit far to travel for a home game. <ok>

if you build it they will come... or in this case i guess if you don't knock it down they will keep coming.

what was that other famous old american ground... shay stadium or one in chicago they levelled and rebuilt?

do you guys think its a case of ethos and what fans are happy with thats important then?

    Exactly, appease the fans.

Ya, Shay stadium was tore down and a new one was built for the mets ( around the same year a brand new one was built for the yankees where the **** did all that money come from??)

Chicago ones are still ancient, nice but old. We have a shiny new one here in Cinci for the NFL team, 70k it pretty massive.

The fans wanted to keep the old stadium. It's a bit like us and the new stadium idea. We'd like a very large new stadium, but would not trade historic Anfield for a slightly bigger, more polished version...At least, I wouldn't. I quite liked the look of Fenway. You could almost see the history. It's one of the great baseball stadiums of the US. <ok>

Could not really care if they rebuild or not. I think however that we could easily fill Anfield twice over, trying to get a ticket is a nightmare, so would like to see a bigger stadium, hopefully financed by a sponsor.

This would allow more fans to watch there team and result in increased income. Win.

to paraprhase "they made the people happy" then?

I still think it looks like a dump, kinda insulting to the bostonians i guess.

re anfield, the issue if the city wants us to put a rial link in to allow 75k or we are boned. 60k is i think in fairness to FSG a big of a stretch to invest in for 15k seats. I'd like more info on expanding anfield but hey were "self sustaining" so i guess eventually when all others go bankrupt....... roll on this match tonight!

Yeah, I think the whole stadium saga will rumble on ad nauseum. A shame really. I agree with Bazray that we could easily fill a much larger stadium...a lot of people comment on how hard it is to get tickets. Can't wait for tonight, should be a great game. :)

Please take a happy pill! Your posts have become more and more negative over the last few weeks that you're in danger of becoming a parody of yourself trying to wum yourself!

    <ok>.

By the way...Anfield can be described as a bit of a dump. And many of us would be happy to see it stay.

anfield on match day when the grass shines a colour that you'd have to take lsd in old trafford to replicate means its never a dump.

    fenway is a dump.

Oh yeh! You've been have you? You've attended when the Red Sox play have you? You've attended a number of other baseball matches in other stadiums so that you can compare have you?

If not you're talking out of your arse.

    Lol.

Also, there've been non-liverpool football fans who've been to anfield and seen what MITO described and still said Anfield was a hole (some of my friends - Man U and Newkie fans, respectively). We all have our biases, we need to acknowledge them. I love Anfield, and I'm sure Red Sox fans love Fenway. Man U fans love Old Trafford, etc.

Atmosphere can also have a massive effect. It is well known that Anfield, in large games, becomes a magical place. Perhaps Fenway's atmosphere is similarly enchanting?

    Just a thought. <ok>

It's not the stadium issue at at all - he may be right! It's just that lots of his recent posts are so negative that it's become like holding a mirror up to the worst of my own posts! <laugh>

fordeck is the one talking out his arse.... I've no love of fenway so can see its a dump at one glance....

the WHOLE DAMNED POINT was that fenway is held up to us as some sort of paragon of FSG virtue where the preserved and renovated a historic monument when in fact it looks like they barely licked it with paint.

the question... which everyone ignored, from some unwillingness to enter a debate, was what does this mean for LFC?

I have been open minded with FSG and thier work and not critical but you do have to ask.... are we really looking at anfield as it is for ever more under these guys.....

the follow up would then have been is that REALLY a bad thing par se.

but of course people want to shout odds about negativity and so forth and so on.

I will be as ever, trying to be objective questioning and hopeful of the the outcome of each game at it comes.

You are still being arsey! How do you know what the facilities are actually like or how comfortable the seating or even how good the seating arrangements are for watching baseball? Yet you are prepared to suggest that your ill-informed assertion should be used as a template for the trial of any refurbishment of Anfield.
