Erm, I've tried, but the age and the fact most of them cost us nowt and the ones we sold made money, says it all really. We're fecked.
Fairly solid back 5, 2 hard working players in front of them, and then hopefully some new forwards to provide spark and goals?
You optimist. More like McCormack sold and Becchi (only coz he's signed and would be too expensive) and Gray up front, as long as speed isn't required!
I think we basically need to sign the front 5 still which isn't good seeings how far away from the start of the season we are. Not only that we still need a RB which I'd be happy with Crainie there personally but Peltier wouldn't be bad. Still that makes 6 signings rather than 4 however Colin did say 4 signings before Snoddy being sold and I am also assuming we sell McCormack so 6 would probably become his new target (hopefully)
For one reason or another the money just isn't there Josh. Did you read the comment that Bucks posted from BIG stating that Snoddy had an asset value of £750K so that is what Warnock will take from the sale, the rest Bates can pocket and the sale was against the prospective new buyers wishes? Makes you half feel like sticking two fingers up at the new owners and saying serves you right for taking to effing long.
I can't see this scenario happening. It could but I can't see it. Bates is getting lets say 50m from this deal of selling the club, he isn't going to pocket 2m just for the hell of it when its Leeds United's money. I've always said and I'll probably get myself into an argument now that Bates' has never pocketed any money from transfer deals. He has spent it on the club, its just debateable whether he has spent it wisely or not
I've had countless arguments with Jerel over this. In fact we haven't had that argument in a while now
Best line from the OS story about this: "There's a couple of who could be leaving as well. There's one or two after Paynter, we've had enquiries about O'Brien, and enquiries about another couple of players so we'll see what happens." Fingers crossed.
Jerel made a comment the other day about those who are transfer listed and the handling of it being poor and you have to agree. So far we haven't sold anyone on the transfer list apart from one who shouldn't have been on it Clayton. Yet we have managed to sell Snodgrass and Lonergan and I expect McCormack to shortly follow and those three were not on it!! (transfer list).
Things are looking grim. Nothing about Colin's comments on the OS suggest there are any top signings coming in and I suspect we can pretty much see our starting 11 now, and frankly it's ****.
Norris is a decent signing, finally for once we have a decent spine of the team match winners and grinders! Need a couple of flair players (templeton n dobbie would be nice) and Ill be happy. Norris should have come to Leeds last season when we couldnt afford the 20k per week he wanted Portsmouth did that did them a lot of good.
They didn't exactly match win and grind for Portsmouth though mate I am with you, I can't take much positive from any of this. Warnocks icing on the cake will be Peltier and Maynard - They should be the squad players not the icing. Maynard wasn't good enough to start for West Ham and only ever scored goals in Div 1 and Peltier not wanted by a team who already finished above us and who are looking stronger. I just hope I was right about wanting Warnock and I hope he can work a miracle in moulding this lot into a promotion winning team. I guess trying to be positive I would have to hope the T/O happens and that we are somewhere near come Christmas and in a position to make some crucial signings.
The paragraph in the Os that caught my attention was: "I'm looking for goals from midfield to help us with the loss of Snodgrass. We need to compensate that even though we're looking to sign strikers. That will go a long way to help us with goals from other areas as well." In case you're wondering, it's strikers, plural that caught my attention. I'msure Warnock's on record as saying we only needed another one.
