Thanks Tom. Makes things nice and clear and it leads me to another question... If Martin Allen prefers attacking full-backs to bomb forward on either flank, where does that leave Fuller, basically do you see that he could cope with that style of game (I don't)? It all seems a little bit messy at the moment. Hence why I have a ticket for the Charlton game (apart from working evenings of course), a tougher test and nearer to the finished product, selection wise, I would imagine.
Slight difference of opinion there mate - spice of life and all that. I think Fuller is slowly moulding himself into a very competent full back in both attacking and defending situations. Like most full backs, his final ball needs work sometimes but when he drives forward he does create some problems. The likes of Payne and Allen will be disciplined in covering for any such occasion too.
just on the subject of trialists, i thought hess went back to spain towards the end of the season and said we would look to bring one or two over for a trial in pre season, after he spotted some that were worth a look at ?
after his gazza find i reckon he'll be keeping his cards very close to his chest on that front!! if we can get another (supposed) 2.5mil profit for having a player for one year then im all for it being kept as quiet as possible!!
say no more looks like the defender michael hector of reading fc has now gone on loan for six months to shrewsbury fc...apparently we were interested...not to worried to tell you the truth.
barry fuller released. martin allen won't be offering barry fuller a new deal at the club, after his fitness levels are not anywhere near what allen wants and thought it only right to let him find a new club now....as i said expect different full backs to come in to the club !
