Sadly, they are some of the sorts, we have had to ban on the Pompey board. Only a few though, most of you are good eggs
Will you guys really be that concerned if the skates go out of business, given the abuse they gave you in the past?
How are we supposed to brag to someone who doesn't exist? They're the ying to our yang if you like, we need them
According to some, we are in the low leagues already. Where you see us knocking one out, are commonly known as the depths.
as clubs our rivalry has been going probably over 100 years long before the skate scummer debate. both clubs fans and management have been guilty of various misdemenours over the years (mostly recent) as a saints fan i have mixed emotions. i remember pompey fans throwing bananas on the dell pitch at certain ethnic players and in recent years a lot of pompey ethnic players being worshiped by the pompey fans. sign of the times probably Pompey must not dissappear, league 2 ok, do not want pompey to be non league or it will be years before we play them again in any capacity unless a freak cup match. Pompey must survive in the football league otherwise we will need to find new some new rivals but i cannot see any other club stirring the same levels of passion and rivalry that exists between our two clubs.
Problem is some of these posters are not actually Saints supporters anyhow, just WUMs, and believe it or not there have been instances of Skate posters just adding this kind of post just to stir things up, Don't take anything for granted.
That facebook group is a bit much, I've seen one of those commenters on a few saints fb groups and they seem like a nice person they don't deserve to be spoken to that way just 'cause they don't want the club to fold. Thing is its like this all over the internet, some of the things you read on youtube comments are shocking, even from just a fairly innocent video like a lighthearted comedy sketch or something. The very worst argument you hear is "they were horrible to us when we were in admin. so they deserve it"... 1. It generalises all Pompey fans as if they are all that way and 2. That famous Gandhi quote comes to mind, 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind!'. 'Nuff said.
I suspect you'll find that the Ghandi quote ought to be attributed to a Mr J Christ of Nazareth, but the sentiment is correct. Rather than moaning about the lack of sympathy we received when we were in admin, wouldn't it be better to show a sympathetic ear and take the moral high ground.
It's a case of drowning or being thrown into the deep blue sea unable to swim! More to the point what is more preferable to PFC? A relaunch outside the Football League! Under the right leadership, potential support and clearly defined infrastructre the phoenix would soon being to rise again. OR August 10th and the hour approaches! Chanrai buys back the club! Does this guy have have any interest in PFC? Is he serious about taking the club forward in every sense of the word? If not I'd go for the first option as I can't see the Trust wanting to be hamstrung with huge debts and repayments for decades to come! PS: There is a sense that TB is imparting emotional blackmail with words to the effect that the club will die unless the senior players come to an agreement! Hang in there Kit, TBH, LL and Kanu and call Chanrai's bluff (he doesn't want to pay you so is coercing the fans into the stance of "the club will die unless you reduce your demands."
Totally agree, complete dive, but a great night out,and back in the late eightees and early nineties a great atmosphere down there. Made a lot of good friends down there from the blue half of Hampshire.
@pn_jordan_cross: In The News tomorrow, Kanu lets fly at Trevor Birch and the #Pompey administrator responds with a fascinating proposition.
He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.
