Sorry Lazarus but people who don't rate Lucas don't know football, you can have opinions on others and maybe argue points but Lucas is a brilliant player and would get in any team in the Premiership.
I never said I didn't rate Lucas, I said that only him and Gerrard are half decent and the rest of the MIDS are terrible
Newcastles game clashes with the olympic opening ceremony on Friday...... Let me know how the Ceremony goes
Your quote... So Lucas couldn't get into a top 8 team? Lucas was in the list you were talking about. Anyway I'm off for a ****.
That line up of midfielders certainly gives us depth but only two/three can play at once, you are only as strong as your weakest link Personally, I don't think we are good enough to get top four but would expect us to at least be pushing for fourth going into March / April time.
Man city doesn't play a defensive midfielder. The closest thing would probably be Yaya Toure and imo, he's better than lucas.
Yep, I agree Lucas was a massive miss as was Gerrard (who will be at a couple of points in the coming season too). PS - I only came on to pass ten minutes whilst waiting for the game to start
I don't think anyone would have a problem with Allen coming to the club. He's a very good player for his age and he does his job in the centre well. Were he to join us I'd be happy at his signing and look forward to seeing him play. It's the other things that make this signing not the most exciting one that could be happening. The price for one. For that kind of money we could be signing "johnny foreigner". It's true they haven't been tested in the prem but seriously? Neither were most of the best players in the prem's history. The same kind of talent that Allen has is nothing new to foreign players. England have long forced the physical part of the game, (which is very important) but they've failed to keep up with the technical aspect. United, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle don't have a problem with signing European talent and look how much better they've been doing than us recently. Where did Rafa's good buys come from? Not the Prem, that's for sure. Look at the some games in the current CL qualifiers. Massively talented youngsters, dribbling, ball control, passing, etc. Available for super-cheap and they are probably more technically gifted than a lot of potential prem players. Watch a game in Serie A or the Bundesliga, there are 18 year olds who can pass just as well as Allen. He's being hyped up because he can pass, but if you look at it, most of those are sideways, backwards, non risky passes. Tons of players around Europe can do that. So basically what concerns me is WHY on earth do we not have scouts watching these players? Why don't we sign the wonderkids, the Gaston Ramirez/Jovetic types? We spend that kind of money on Downing and Adam, what's stopping us from signing Reus? Schurrle? Perhaps we are looking at these, I'm certain we're not done in the transfer window. But the fact that we seem to be spending all of our money so soon on players that Rodgers has worked with before implies that he doesn't know about scouting new players, overseas scouting and other alternatives. (Example: Dorus de Vries) I don't want to rush this signing if better players are available. If we end up signing Allen, fantastic. But I don't want to sign Allen now if it means that later in the summer we have to pass on a Ramirez or a Hazard-like signing. I don't want to hear any of that attracted to CL BS, there are talented players who would die to play for Liverpool.
I actually knew he was previously a mod, was just pissing about. Didn't know why he had quit though, fair play
Well I'd take Cabeye and Tiote over anyone in a Liverpool Jersey at this moment in time. By your logic that must give us the best midfield in the premiership. lol Which just isnt true! Keep tipping that ale back Baz!
Also, sorry for the double post but I'll be very happy to eat my words and look like an idiot if Rodgers proves me wrong. Which he could.
£13.5 is a bit steep for this lad though.... but if you compare him to the Downing/Carrol/Henderson transfer scale you should be paying more like £40m for him
Seems a bit underhand to sign something in assumed good faith only to look for ways to by-pass it once you have what you want. Very harsh booking for Stirling, does it count for anything?
Tiote - £3.5m Cabeye - £4.3m How much did you spend on the vastly inferior Henderson?? and now Joe Allen for £13.5m??
No, but it was very harsh! Referee doesn't seem up to mutch, Roma haven't exactly defended fairly in the box, that's all I'll say. Yeh, it seems bad but as outsiders we really do know very little about Rodgers, the clubs and Allen himself. Do you have literally nothing better to do with your time than spout irrelevancies?
