I am currently having an argument with my brother. Please answer these questions: 1.) How highly do you rate Jose Enrique? 2.) Is he one of the best left backs in the world? If not, who is better? 3.) Will he get into the Spain squad eventually? 4.) Do you think it is possible for Barca or Real Madrid to come calling for him? And if so would he get a game? 5.) Is he the best left back in England?
1.) How highly do you rate Jose Enrique? In what way? I consider him to be international class, even for Spain, and I cant think of many higher compliments. 2.) Is he one of the best left backs in the world? If not, who is better? He is top 10 easily IMO, pushing 5. The likes of Evra, Cole, Coentrao, Criscito, Abidal, Marcelo even(?) are all up there, I'll have forgotten a few. Baines as well. 3.) Will he get into the Spain squad eventually? He should, Capdevila is nearly finished and they dont have an outstanding LB. Think if he goes to a CL club or if we get into Europe he will as there will be more publicity, but really he should at least be 2nd choice now. 4.) Do you think it is possible for Barca or Real Madrid to come calling for him? And if so would he get a game? Abidal is getting on, and Marcelo is a bit lightweight and attack minded, so I could see him in either team, but I dont think they in particular would be after him. 5.) Is he the best left back in England? Tough call, realistic competition is Evra, Cole and Baines. Evra has been off colour since the WC according to some Man U fans, Cole hasnt stood out this year but Baines has been good. I'll sit on the fence here but you could definitely argue he is the best.

Will he get into the Spain squad eventually? Depends on the manager, they seem to have a culture of bringing a team through the youth squads to the first team together, don't think they call people up on form as much as other countries might. 4.) Do you think it is possible for Barca or Real Madrid to come calling for him? And if so would he get a game? They could, would be pushing for a first team spot, but would probably only be back-up/rotation. 5.) Is he the best left back in England? Quite possibly.

Cole and Evra are better but they've had more experience and they will be retiring soon 3.) Will he get into the Spain squad eventually? If he stays with us, no, that's why good players advisers tell them if they want to play for their national team, to leave clubs like us and join Man Utd or AC Milan 4.) Do you think it is possible for Barca or Real Madrid to come calling for him? And if so would he get a game? Maybe, but i don't think he's quick enough for Barca. I'd say Real possibly, but i don't think Enrique will be able to break into their first teams. The highest i see him going is Inter or Buyern Munich. 5.) Is he the best left back in England? Most desirable. The hottest LB in terms of the one everyone would want to buy. I think Cole and Evra are better but they'll both be retiring soon where as Enrique has another 10-12 years to go.

If not, who is better? He's in the top bracket of lb's. 3.) Will he get into the Spain squad eventually? Probably 4.) Do you think it is possible for Barca or Real Madrid to come calling for him? And if so would he get a game? Maybe, but not until he's been somewhere other than Newcastle. 5.) Is he the best left back in England? Noooooope, think Cole, Evra and Baines are all ahead of him, even if ability-wise they are all similar, Jose tends to make more mistakes at the back and costs us more goals than most of these (except Evras handball against West Ham lol)
He's one of the best LBs in the world. Cole and Evra are both more established but I think he's been better than both this season, as has Leighton Baines. If I was to put together a team with an unlimited budget him and Baines would be top of my shopping list for LB. He should've been in the Spain squad the last couple of years, he's better than Capdevila, and even if Del Bosque doesn't see it that way, they only have the one LB so it's baffling as to why he isn't included. I'd like to see him play for Barcelona. I think they'd be perfect for each other. Would he get a game? Yes. Maxwell is decent but Enrique is better. I think he'd walk into the Madrid team as well, Marcelo can't defend. Putting Enrique at LB and Marcelo on the wing would dramatically improve their team.
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say he's the best left back in the world. He hasn't got much competition though really, nobody else really stands out for me. I honestly wouldn't swap him for anyone else, and I think he's going to leave us in the summer and I really couldn't blame him because he should be playing Champions League football. He would be awesome at Barca.

Argubly, there are the obvious choices but i don't watch much of foriegn leagues and so far he's out performed them all in this league 3.) Will he get into the Spain squad eventually? In time 4.) Normally i would say no, however most of the rest have been below par this season
1) Very highly 2) Top 10 3) He should be there already!! 4) I tihnk he would suit Barcelonas style very well...could he get in the team, erm, yes I think he would. 5) Kolorov, Cole, Evra, Baines and Clichy are all about par with him, but with him being a Newcastle player i'm going to have to say yes!

Is he the best left back in England? This season, yes.
