On sky sports news Charlie Nicholas was saying that Newcastle will finish 18th, with the forum that we show this season has been very good and acceptable. The teams that will go down will likely be:
    20th: wigan
    19th: wolves
    18th: blackpool

    any comments?

never heard of him, but any pundit who thinks we'll finish 18th is someone who's not worth listening too. I can't see any of the 3 teams youve mentioned catching us if we pick up any more points

Do you not watch Gillette Soccer Saturday? He is a pundit on there <ok>.

I remember him saying that at the start of the season but I don't think any pundits think we will go down now.

think the bottom 3 will stay the same, maybe wolves to climb out of it with blackpool to go down.

Would love to see west ham, villa and blackburn go down because I dont like them and it would be a weaker premier league if the did.

How can everyone hate West Ham, to me their the most lovable team in the league. The novalty of Blackpools worn off on me, i used to think it was funny but now i think 'why don't you just lie down and get beaten 5-0 like your supposed to'

West Ham used to have a bit of a firm rivalry with Newcastle back in the day after one of our own chucked a petrol bomb at them. They went up to Newcastle and attacked a load of Geordies in a working men's club; women, children, OAPs et all as revenge.
I don't know if that's all there is to it (pretty sure their old chairman used to be anti-north east as well), but it certainly lingers long in the memory for those who are older.

The Petrol Bomb incident is well known, the West Ham fans seem to always bring it up in conversations down there. I have read all about it, heard so many stories in books, newspaper reports as well as fans at games who watched the flames shoot up in the air from the Scoreboard end. As well as people who were in the Paddock next to the away end. There is a cracking picture in one book of the flames in the middle of the West Ham fans and the West Ham fans just looking around in shock!

Did Charlie Nicholas really say that? Would be surprised , he's normally one of the smarter pundits. I would have expected this from Merson but not from Nicholas.

I wouldn't expect Merson to know which teams are in the league.

Charlie Nicholas's English team growing up was Sunderland, he's always biased towards them and last week said they'd win 3-0. Says it all.

The guys an idiot, mind at the start of the season (when I'm guessing he said that) I would have taken 17th, so 1 place higher than his.

    He's still an idiot though!

Nicholas said this at the very start of the season so I don't think he has said this one like.
As for West Ham I ****ing hate the ****s and their 'firm' that is percieved wrongly in media and that Cass ****e.
Their is a version of only a poor little hammer that people from that time changed to 'he came for a fight so we set him alight' something like that - pretty sick.
From away days what I've been told by people who claim to be ex gremlins (probly still involved some way or another) was that they always beat West Ham but Stoke used to smash us all over when we went down their and most say Stoke are the hardest.
