Phillips Idowu is overrated. He's a lanky weirdo who could just gingerly step (like we may do when alighting from a Train) instead of jumping, and he'd still beat half the field, yet he can't win major events without all his rivals falling by the wayside beforehand... And this is a gold medal prospect, who has the temerity to be disgusted with the BOA for asking for his medical file when he hasn't competed in months?

I think Gemili could make the final, but I see no purpose in the rest of the sprinters. We should have included Walcott/Sturridge/The Ox/Lennon as a the novelty act we are at track and field.

Football/Tennis etc are joke Olympic sports, but it's nice to have some internationals up here.

Do the swimmers really need to have so many different ways to get to the other end? If they were tipped overboard in the sea and had to swim for it, they would not be doing breast-stroke or butterfly. Why don't they have "doggy paddle", the "non-swimmer run until the water comes up to their goggles" and the "annoying girl from the horror/boat film who we all want to die swim", whereby a hungry shark is released and the swimmer screams until it's within ten feet... And it's a farce the "freestyle" isn't called front crawl. Nobody is going to be backstroking it.

The "walking" race is ludicrous. It isn't walking, it's hobbling down the street with a stone in both shoes.

The London games opening ceremony will feature farm animals and countryside images which represent Britain. Indeed, I think everyone from far flung regions of the globe will truly take that message away with them when they're being 10X over-charged for a grimy hotel room in the middle of Soho...

All that said, I love the Olympics. It's days and days of none stop sport <ok>

Now if they included 'tossing the caber' then I think our very own Tash would have a decent chance at gold.

Anyone else starting to think he's the guy who is lighting the torch, should be Redgrave though.

To be fair we have been by far the better team and should be about 3-0 up.

I know women's football is often set an unfair standard, because men can have ****, laborious, stodgy matches too... I know that when a woman fails to find the target with a pass, it is met with the usual "women are just crap" etc etc...

But seriously, that match, and indeed most international ladies matches televised, are almost as painful to me as passing Fat Sam's head out of my urethra...

My opinion, of course. I'm just disappointed with the quality of the play in general, even taking it as a separate entity, it should be better. The keepers, in particular, are horrifyingly bad... It's like Roy Carroll or De Gea have donned a drag outfit!!!

Each to their own, if others enjoy it, fair enough!

Couldn't agree more, I've a feeling it could be Becks, it should be an Olympian, Redgrave a most deserving person to do it.
