I think we're just playing hardball with Lille, i'm fairly confident if Chelsea had a bid accepted (that wasn't a massive amount more than we're offering) we'd match it. He has said that we are his preference, and with Lille preparing for life after him I think it's only a matter of time before he joins! Unless of course Chelsea offer him stupid wages!

They got rid of Bosingwa, and Debuchy would be good for their style.

Seems like it really could happen.

I know Ivanovic isn't a proper RB but i feel that they are fairly settled with him there. If not they're going to have a hell of a rotation at CB.

    Terry, Cahill, Luiz, Ivanovic

Ivanovic is a beast, I'd love to have him, he can play CB and RB, however he's not as threatening bombing up the wing and in an attack.

Although I'm loathe to take anything from there seriously, I've thought all summer they'd have an interest given their need for a right back. I'm completely neutral on Debuchy anyway. I think he's a good player (maybe wouldn't rave the way some do), but I'd prefer a left back. I wouldn't be unhappy if he arrived but if he rocked up at Chelski then I dare say I'd be not particularly bothered.

    Can definitely see this happening.

Dangerous game Newcastle are playing and if they really want Debuchy, they should just bite the bullet this time instead of haggling over small change.

Supposedly but it has stalled and they are looking at other options including Debuchy and the Spanish lad from Marseille. Of course it could just kidology to hasten whatever is holding up the Maicon move.

I don't know why we don't go back in for Erik Pieters and shift Santon over to RB.

I haven't seen him play there myself, but have read reports that RB is his preference and he has put in some super displays when he has played there for Italy U21's.

Would have thought Pieters would be cheaper than Debuchy ?

I think Pieters would be a no no until he can prove he overcome his injury problems. I must admit having watched him, I wasn't overly impressed. He had a shocker against England in the friendly, although in his defence it was his first game in a while and he hadn't had any league action once he was over his injury. Last I heard he is injured again (hence he missed Euros). Left backs really are like rocking horse ****e.

    Come home Jose!

PS Brendan said you're no better than Konchesky and you can **** off with Andy. Honest.

Newcastle don't "really want Debuchy". They really want the best vakue they can get in the fullbaack market. That's Debuchy if the price is right and someone else if it isn't.

They're bargaining tough but so far haven't bargained stupid. Decinding £15m + was too much for de Jong was a sound enough call. I expect they'll get someone they want at about the price they want. I'm just now expecting it to happen on 29 August

Debuchy would do a good job for pretty much any team in the premier league, based on what I've seen of him. I'm actually surprised more teams aren't in for him!

Unfortunately, Cabaye isn't "best mates" with the chairmen as well, really...

Howay man and use some of the cash we have already taken in on transfers out and up the bid for Debuchy. Get him over the line before we lose out for the sake of as couple of mill.
