To be fair. He's just carrying on where he left off with us signings wise, and that's mostly the reason why they appointed him.
i know for a (mikey) FACT that we ourselves were scouting cresswell last term. i never felt we would bid for him but i'm not surprised that lambert is still keen. i know he's a binner but i really like cresswell. he's far from the finished article but he has potential to be a top half premier league full back
To be honest Thai anything over £3 Million and I would rip their bleeding arms off! This kid only cost us £540K last season and TBH he isn't all that special yet!
So why does the thread related to the possible sale read - OH Sh*T! That doesn't suggest he isn't all that special yet! Couple that with a number of your guys consider him to be the best player in the current squad it would seem quite a serious loss to you guys.
We have got a French kid on trial with us who we are signing as a Left Back and he is better than Cresswell. I am one of the few who do not particuarly rate Creswell, yes he is young and raw but he's not worth anything like £3Million! I say we should take the money and G&T's all round!
i don't reckon he'd even get a regular spot in the villa team just yet, so they certainly aren't going to pay that kind of money for him. ipswich look like they are just trying to scare them off, which is a reasonable response to someone trying to get your best player. i think an initial bid of £3.5m, if true, is very generous. gunter went for less and he's a better defender in my opinion.
what are you basing this on? my mate went over to helmond and thought all three of your triallists were relatively weak.
I agree Supers! I would be far more concerned if Fulham, who are known admirers of JET put in an offer!
he's not ready for a move either. both players should stay with ipswich for at least one more year. they'd get more money but moving now would push both players careers back a stage.
I forgot that you and your mates have far superior knowledge! I saw them over there as well and I liked the look of them. You can't form an opinion based on a couple of games!
i remember watching a triallist for norwich years ago called scott mean (anyone remember him?) he was absolutely outstanding for us that night - ran the show, looked like a future star. ended up at bournemouth - it was a one off.
fact is, you can build an understanding of a players core traits from one game of football, but its difficult to be 100% accurate. for example, if a keeper has next to nothing to do, you can still check on his concentration levels. a full back, likewise, reading of the game etc, so its not impossible so maybe i was being a bit unfair on warky but i trust my mates judgement on this and he thought they weren't good enough for league football.
