Frank has said with one year left on his contract he will be looking at what his next move will be. Bearing in mind he will be 35 years old I cant see any prospect of him getting anything more than a years extension, like Drogs! If thats the case he will head off to the States and join up with Beckham, who he has become quite pally with! I cant say I blame Frank, but this now seems to be the chosen route for superstars to see out their days! Lets hope he bags a Blues goalscoring record before he goes!
Seems ideal really. 1 more year with us, josh out on loan for a year and then replaces him next season? Can't see Lamps being happy to play the odd game here or there so if he wants a couple of years in the sun to finish his career, fair enough. Already a true Chelsea and P.L legend.
8 to go past Kerry Dixon (surely can do that in 1 season) 17 to go past Tambling as most ever. It would be tough but certainly do-able, hope he does it.
He has a total of 186 goals in all competitions! This is 3rd in the Chelsea all time list behind Kerry Dixon(193) and Bobby Tambling (202). I fancy he might catch Kerry if he can get a place in 20+ games, but with our midfield being overstocked with top drawer talent I feel that's going to be a close run thing!
Hope he gets there, tough though. What an achievement for a midfielder to be anywhere near top scorer for his club !!!!
Look at the top ten all time record goal scorers. All strikers except Lampard - Fantastic achievement!
I watched Drogs Goals on CTV tonight! Classic entertainment but even he fell short of Lamps total by 29 goals!!
How many games will Lampard get now though. With Oscar coming in as well, I'd be surprised if he started 10 in the league (unless injuries decimate your squad)?
We'll probably end up playing 50 games plus next year, plenty of chances for Lamps especially as designated free kick and penalty taker. I'm sure he'll pass Kerry Dixon but maybe not Bobby Tambling.
I guess Lampard will play every game he is fit for this is because he is HG (home grown, trained three years before age twenty one in the UK, one of eight needed in a squad) and over twenty one of which you can only have twenty five of. So if you are going to register any over twenty one years old you have to be prepared to used them other wise they are a waste of a valuable squad spot. All squad members under twenty one on the first of January of the season to be played do not need to be registered (sorry for stating the obvious but I feel some board posters don't know some of the basics given some of the things I've read.). So if Frankie in squad means Frankie will get games. It was the over twenty one rule that meant Benayoun had to go on loan.
Sorry Dfer, these rules are far too complicated for a wizzened old brain like mine to take in! Why cant things be simple and uncomplicated like they were when I first stated watching the Blues? PS I read that Lamps is seeking an extension to the year remaining on his contract!
