No. Thought not. Been keeping a distant eye on boards for the last few weeks given all the doom mongering. Last I saw we'd made a couple of (admittedly modest) signings, my season ticket arrived and we beat Sporting Lisbon. Must say it doesn't quite feel like Portsmouth or Rangers. Back to my cloud.......
I'd go to bat that everyone is CAFC through and though on here- even those I've collided with in the past. We were labelled as "in denial" and "delusional" by members of other forums, but we were anything but that. We simply didn't over react to inconsistent stories and vague details that were being banded about. A month later and we can safely say a lot of it was hot air and people winding each other up. We will never know what went on in those times- even people within the club will know very little of went on (you know who I'm looking at). There might have been something (such as cash flow), but the outpouring of negativity was staggering and anything but productive. Hearing there possibly could be a problem about something to nothing and banding it around is exactly the kind of thing that was dragging us down in the last year of championship football to the start of last season. Too much second guessing from the fans spread on to the pitch- I think any professional would agree to that. Let's concentrate on Birmingham In roughly 20 days time, and take last seasons momentum in to the championship. Put all his rubbish to bed and back whatever starting 11 that takes to the pitch at St Andrews (air conditioning). That's what I'm looking forward to- not whether we sign baldock or a mystery player that the club was too broke to pay for. hopefully see you there!
My Season ticket's still not here maybe we are bust and couldn't afford to print/post the remaining ones
Must admit, was very impressed with the second half v Sporting Lisbon and deserved the win.Looked solid at back as usual, and powerful at set pieces. Just wish there was one or two (quality) signings more before start of season - striker and defensive midfield would be nice.Maybe some of Pompeys jetsam(or is it flotsam?) post their likely sad demise.
To be honest as far as I can think of, the only remaining Pompey player I'd be happy with is Husseklepp (if he hasn't left yet). Though I know there's a deal in the balance for him to leave. I guess if Clarke and Hayes both leave (and if Smith is deemed not ready), we may need back up for Yann. Anyone think Kanu would be okay for back-up? He could coach some of the youngsters etc too. Not gonna happen I know, his wages are probably 5x what our lads are on, plus he must be pushing on for 50 now (real age, not 'official age').
Don't want anyone from Pompey- they are contributing to killing the club. Not negotiating with them will result in Pompey going bust and they won't receive 1 penny. I have some sympathy with them, but it's now in their interests to agree a fee and find a new club where they will still be paid a handsome wage. So when we go bust in the next 48 hours, they will bleed us dry
The situation at Pompey is truly awful and I sincerely hope that the club is saved. There must be someone with a bit of financial clout who can come in and do a serious job of running them. The town and surrounding area need the football club to survive, so why don't the local council step in to help? What about Redknapp? Maybe he will come cantering in at the last minute to save the club that made him. I'm sure he has a few million sloshing around that could be put to good use. At least he can go back to managing again - near to home, I might add. As for our wonderful club, I think we (I) have much to look forward to. I watched the 2011/12 DVD last night and loved the spirit and togetherness running through the club. The extras showing the POTY awards and the Carlisle celebrations are a joy to behold. I had a tear in my eye listening to CP's speech. Season tickets have arrived, Birmingham tickets soon to be on their way, and a nice local trip to Barnet on Thursday. Great stuff, indeed! COYR!
well this ostrich got his season ticket through today so I assume this so-called cashflow problem must be over
I got my ST yesterday, I see they still have those bloody adverts in them I used to like the way the match tickets were used up in an even fashion but now you have those advert things sticking out... I hate it!..... but that's just me being a virgo.
We must be going bust, as my tickets arrived on Saturday, but instead of the tickets I got two 'sorry we missed you' letters explaining that they wouldn't deliver the items as no postage had been paid.
Anyone going to Barnet tonight? I shall be there with three nippers on their very best behaviour. It is my four year-old's first away match tonight. She is a very excited August-Virgo.
