Not surprised at all. Gecov has evidently not shown Jol enough to keep him around. Besides, he is 24 so hardly a real prospect for the future like Kasami or Frei.

Always was a bit of an odd transfer. But good luck for the future Marcel, you stand a much better chance in Belgium.

Jol did say pretty much as soon as the season ended tha he would be looking to loan Gecov, so I don't think it's a huge surprise and a 4 year deal is a good one for the lad.

I think we will see a few more exits soon - the next being Dalla Valle to Chester.

I’m pleased he’s moved on… His hair would have clashed with our new away kit… He would have made us a laughing stock.

Bit of a shame as he looked decent, but I suppose he's gone for more games. Good luck Marcel.

More games and more money according to his agent...

I never thought he was that good whenever I seen him play, but to be fair to him he wasn’t really given much of an opportunity in the first team. I hope he has better luck at Gent

I'm sorry to see him go, but not devastated. He looked all right to me, but as others have said he never got the chance to show whether or not he was any more than that. Best of luck, Marcel. If you had ever broken into the first team, along with Sidwell and Riise the Elder we would have been the gingerest team in the world.

I feel this is better for both club and player. He was solid enough but played the ball sideways too much. With Big Mart realising that Dembele was better placed in a deeper role, his chances of first team football were going to be sparce. Good luck to the lad.

He's still a complete unknown to me. I don't think I've seen him play more than 5 minutes at Craven Cottage- presumably for the best, I did always have hope he would break through, his background suggested promise.

He was OK but better players out there... I saw him at the game against Odense. Good, solid player but not PL. Good luck to him.

Interesting you mention Odense, Madness. Jol has a wee reputation for being unforgiving and that's now two fron the Odense debacle gone, Sa and Gecov. Maybe it's just co-incidence becuase if not a couple of others may be looking over their shoulder.

C58, very valid point. Another two in that game were Briggs and Kasami who have not featured much for the rest of the season. I think they were spared due to age.

Thanks, Madness. I'm always happy to get the credit for very valid and well made points. Even when it was Cottager 58 who made them!
