ESPN can reveal that Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch has served notice on all players and staff that the club will shut down on August 10 unless high earners such as Kanu and Tal Ben Haim, owed a combined £6 million, accept compromise deals.

"Everybody, including the players, have been served notice that the club will close down on August 10," Birch said. "The only way the club can be saved is if the players accept compromise deals, the Football League are in constant touch and know the situation, the PFA are also aware of it and are doing all they can to help

"If the new owner does not take over the liabilities and guarantee £10 million of football creditors then the Football League will not transfer its share and the club will go under. To save the club we are frantically trying to negotiate with players such as Kanu and Tal Haim. We have offered Tal Haim a substantial compromise which he has turned down, so it is difficult to negotiate.

And yet there is still silence from the Trust.

If they aren't going to put a bid in perhaps they should say so because it sounds as though Birch is disregarding them completely/

In all bitter honesty, I think this is the end of the line for Pompey.

Ben-Haim and Kanu won't negotiate, and who will take either of them, or Kitson for that matter off our books ??

They will run the club dry, suck out whatever money they can have, then join another club on high wages and be a bench player ..

A very sad announcement indeed. I hope that something good comes in the next two weeks, as football clubs seem to have more lives than a cat, but somehow I doubt it.

    Play Up Pompey,
    Just one more goal;
    Make tracks, What-ho!
    Hallo,hallo!
    Bong!!

I knew that chant, the original form of Play up Pompey. I never realised it had the world Bong in it, that makes it even more awesome.

But thank you, may as well get it over and done with though.

I don't think TBH or Kanu would get much money elsewhere. That's why they are making sure they get as much as possible from Pompey.

But if they hold out much longer and the club goes under, they get nothing... It doesn't make any sense :S

as a neutral, im gutted to see pompy going under and i really hope you can find some way of surviving... horrible to see how your club has gone downhill in 4 years and worse to think kanu, the player who won you the FA cup, could well be the player to send you to the wall. really hope the players have a heart and keep the club in buisness, good luck pompy!

Plymouth fan in peace .... Our staff and players went without wages for most of our administration, truly hope your players and staff do the decent thing and do whatever they can to keep your club afloat .... we were weeks away from going under but we were lucky and were saved. Have everything crossed that the same thing happens to your club, besides I'm looking forward to playing you down at Home Park :emoticon-0148-yes:

Gutted for you. I hope it all works out.
Anyone who mocks you should be ashamed and is not a real football fan.

Well it looks like all concerned are playing a game of chicken. I can't help wondering if some of the players are waiting until all the others have gone, so they might be able to keep their contracts untouched.
I know many of you don't relish the plan B option, but at least you would finally be rid of the leeches. I think I would prefer that to BC taking over, knowing that he would sell to anyone to just rid off the club.

I've been an observer of office politics for many a year - and what I've been watching over the last few months is a form of office politics, with the blame being deflected to the players, as though it is they who are the ones holding the club to ransom.

I am not the only one who believes this not to be true.

There is 1 bid in, from Chanrai, who will not allow the parachute payments to be used for the football creditors (who are not just the players still here, there is a longer list going back years). He wants his money, and he wants it quick. If he takes over.............. oh it's just too depressing to think about.

I think some-one's missing a trick here. Surely it would cost a fraction of that to put out a contract on them (or am I jumping the gun here?) <whistle>

Kanu's about 80 anyway, you might as well play the waiting game with him.
